Peninsula kitchens have become a trend

Spacious and functional

The kitchen has become one of the most valuable parts of the home for years. Cooking is now a pleasure rather than an obligation, and with this change we are no longer satisfied with just a practical kitchen, but we are also looking for style and comfort for what is one of the main living areas of our home. For this reason, in this new Kitchen&Co post we bring you a kitchen with peninsula and a combination of grey and oak wood that will blow your mind.

Get space and comfort by fitting the appliances into the units of your peninsula-style kitchen.

All peninsula kitchens should provide us with sufficient storage space, as ideally we should have all the food we are going to use in our recipes at hand. One of the most practical solutions is to add kitchen units to one of our walls.

In this grey kitchen, the bromine grey colour was chosen for the kitchen units next to the peninsula, and all the large appliances were integrated into these units. This way, we have a central station with oven, coffee maker and microwave at a comfortable height to match the rest of the units.

And if cooking with fresh food is your passion, don’t worry; this kitchen with peninsula includes a full size refrigerator without freezer to make the most of the space. To store frozen food, it also features a seven-drawer freezer integrated behind one of the doors. By covering both the refrigerator and the freezer, the bromine grey colour stands out in this area of the kitchen, and combines perfectly with the stainless steel of the appliances.

The rest of the units can be used to store non-perishable food and seasonings. By the way, have you seen the handleless units with soft close doors? Practical and modern units for a peninsula-style kitchen. In addition, to make better use of the space, the middle units have a push-button opening system. And don’t worry about touching the units with your hands, as the matte grey finish prevents you from leaving fingerprints on the doors when you open them.

Finally, we recommend that you consider fitting interior drawers to the base units. This will make it easier for you to find all the items you store in them.

Kitchen with double-height Marengo grey peninsula: style and functionality for chefs and diners

As mentioned above, in this post we want to show you one of the most fashionable kitchen features today: the peninsula. If you liked the kitchen with island (watch this video), don’t miss out this beautiful kitchen with peninsula.

A peninsula kitchen offers many advantages over other types of layouts or features. Firstly, it helps to separate spaces, so if you want to have an open-plan kitchen integrated into your living or dining room, the peninsula from the kitchen would allow you to separate each area. On the other hand, as it is a three-sided structure, it provides you with a large work surface and lots of space to move around. But without a doubt, the most important advantage is its versatility. Now you can design your kitchen in 3D.

“The Silestone® surface could have been made longer, but that would mean sitting down to lunch and dinner on a stool.”

The kitchen with the grey and wooden peninsula shown here today is very special, as the peninsula has not only been used for cooking, but also for transforming our kitchen into a dining room. How has this been achieved? Very simple, the surface has been divided into two levels – a worktop for cooking and a bar for eating, each one with different materials and colours.

The first big advantage of a kitchen with a peninsula and dining area is that diners can sit down on chairs comfortably, not on stools. Also, this makes cooking no longer a solitary activity, allowing us to spend time with our family or friends while we prepare something to eat. And here’s the best part: with a dining bar you won't have to set and clear the table in the living room and take all the dishes and utensils with you every time you eat.

As the combination of grey and wood in kitchens is our favourite, we have designed the Silestone® Marengo grey worktop, which combines perfectly with the bromine grey units and the oak wood used for the bar and the doors of the base units. In this case, a stainless steel under-worktop sink with a soap dispenser and two sockets hidden under a rotating disc have also been fitted.

“Don’t forget to include a soap dispenser for use in your kitchen. You will always have it on hand when you need it.”

Under this worktop, and that of our kitchen peninsula, you will have space to store your cleaning products, dustbins, and a dishwasher. Your guests will never know where these features are located as they are completely hidden behind these wooden doors, which match perfectly with the grey colour used on the horizontal surfaces of this kitchen. The finishing touch to the doors is how the wood grains are placed, i.e. horizontally. This way, the grains run continuously along our units.

Do you like cooking? Don’t give up anything – a glass-ceramic hob, a grill and a gas stove, all on the same worktop

And finally, you cannot forget to customise your overhead units. The combination of grey and wood that we like so much is also present in these units, using grey for the doors and wood for the interior of the units. And note the protective and decorative wallpaper placed on the fronts to avoid the use of traditional tiles behind the units. This protects the wall and at the same time gives a personal touch to your kitchen.

“The kitchen fronts had to be protected, so this wallpaper was used to make your kitchen a unique space.”

“You will be able to make those traditional dishes on the fire. Wonderful.”

As you can see in the video, these three elements have been fitted with an Elica Box In Plus 120cm under-cabinet kitchen hood, to remove all cooking fumes and prevent the build-up of unpleasant odours.

By the way, have you noticed how deep the worktop is? This depth has been chosen to fit 73cm deep drawers. This way, you will get more space for your dishes and pans. In addition, a hidden cutlery tray has been fitted with marine plywood, avoiding the use of plastics and oil products.

“Remember, always choose cutlery trays in marine plywood. Forget about plastics and oil products.”

A kitchen with peninsula just as you like it

The grey and wooden kitchen shown today at Kitchen&Co is a perfect example of how to add a peninsula to this part of our home. The combination of grey and wood is simply great but, of course, feel free to choose your own layout and colour combination. This is the best way to achieve your dream kitchen.
