The modern offices and training rooms of the regional headquarters of CSIF (Independent and Civil Servants’ Trade Union Centre of Spain) in Granada covers almost 500 square metres on the ground floor of two adjoining buildings in the heart of the city centre. The flexible and versatile interiors have been designed as open-plan spaces, with plenty of glass walls and a white and ecru colour range that promote a relaxed and calm atmosphere, ideal for this workspace. A design that is seamlessly integrated with the exterior, where the architects Gallego Projects have developed a balanced façade, with large apertures allowing plenty of natural light to pass through and connecting the interior with the street.
To create the desired contemporary aesthetic, the architecture team chose Dekton as the main material, taking into account both its technical features and the benefit of receiving personalised advice. ‘Working with Cosentino has been a 360º process. We have been treated exceptionally well. They have always supplied us with the material from their headquarters and we have been able to handle and machine it on site in an easy and agile way,’ the architecture studio explains.
The benefits of good advice
‘The on-site advice on the installation of the pieces has been second to none,’ they continue. For the façade, 8 mm Dekton slabs were selected and fitted directly as cladding.
The use of a plain colour on the façade, such as Dekton Moone, in combination with a wood texture on the window frames, including jambs, sills and lintels, such as Dekton Bento, adds great depth to the façade. The glued façade system allows for a minimum joint size of 3 mm with grouting in the Dekton colour, which provides greater visual continuity. It is easy to clean, maintenance costs are reduced, and most graffiti can be easily removed.
‘The high resistance and functionality of the material along with its easy maintenance and great aesthetics are the perfect combination to meet the customer’s initial expectations. All parties were highly satisfied’, the architects stress.
Natural wood tones on the façade
The aesthetically pleasing façade is the result of combining two colours that together create a sense of balance and depth. Specifically, they opted for the elegant white Moone colour because it enhances brightness, complemented by Bento, which is inspired by the natural tones of wood but with the benefits of Dekton for exteriors. The colours are transformed at night and become an ideal canvas for a lighting design in which colour has taken centre stage in intense shades of green, blue and white, resulting in a very striking façade on the outside.
Dekton was also applied to the bathroom countertops in the interior, taking advantage of its qualities in terms of resistance, ease of maintenance and durability. All in all, a resounding design for very modern offices with quality materials.
