The Cosentino Group is delighted to be continuing its partnership with the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) on its National Architecture Awards for the third year running.  The Spanish company is honoured to have a five-year contract with RIBA (ending 2020) to produce the winners’ plaques. This year the annual awards ceremony was hosted at the Serpentine Pavilion in London on 12 July.

In total, 49 striking awards were crafted from the ultra-compact surface Dekton® in the colour Domoos.  Beautifully engraved with the RIBA branding, the plaques demonstrate the versatility of the material, and hence are a fitting award for such a prestigious accolade.  Available in large formats and a variety of colours, textures and thicknesses, Dekton® is suitable for a wide range of architectural projects both internally and externally because of its high resistance to scratching, stains, freeze/thaw, heat and UV rays.

Cosentino and the RIBA National Awards

Cosentino is a company that prides itself on its commitment to imagining and anticipating design solutions which offer value and inspiration to peoples’ lives, making them a natural partner for the RIBA National Awards.  For over 50 years the RIBA Awards and prizes have championed and celebrated the best architecture in the UK and around the world, no matter the form, size or budget.  This year’s awards were attended by Mexican architect, Frida Escobedo, who is the designer of the 2018 Serpentine Pavilion.  Escobedo is the youngest architect to receive the prestigious annual commission to date, and her Pavilion, which is now open to the public, centres on a courtyard and pool of water, framed by latticed walls and a mirrored canopy.

What Are The RIBA National Awards?

The prestigious annual RIBA National Architecture Awards are given to buildings across the UK created in the last 12 months which are recognised as significant contributions to architecture.  The National Awards showcase the breadth and scale of projects being undertaken, and as a result are often viewed as insight into emerging design trends.
