Making the most of Dekton Pietra Kode’s versatility with architect Daniel Germani

Earlier this month, Cosentino launched Dekton® Pietra Kode, the latest collection of the premium ultracompact stone Dekton. Designed by long-time collaborator Daniel Germani, Pietra Kode reinterprets the timeless beauty of three classic Italian stones: Vicenza, Travertine and Ceppo di Gré into a total of seven new, highly versatile colours.

All seven colours in the Pietra Kode collection are suitable for indoor and outdoor uses, both as vertical and horizontal surfaces and also as furniture. “Every area of a residential project could use Pietra Kode, from floor to facades and everything in between – each could benefit from Dekton’s top performance,” says Germani. So how do you choose the right one for your space? He shares a few tips.

“Make sure that the other materials in the house play well with each other,” he says. Germani’s favourite material to combine with Dekton is wood. “It is the perfect complement,” he comments.

Falling in love with more than one Pietra Kode colour? Fret not; you don’t have to choose. “Do not be afraid of mixing and matching the entire Pietra Kode palette,” encourages the designer. The colours are designed to pair well with each other.

For Singapore’s compact living spaces, Germani advises going with lighter colours.

“Lighter colours usually work best in smaller spaces,” he says. “Although, do not underestimate the use of a bold colour like the grey Ceppo to make a statement.”

Also, take into consideration the time of the day when you view the materials. “Be aware that the colours look different whether you place them vertically – like wall applications – or horizontally – like floor applications. Be mindful of the time of the day when choosing the right colour for you,” says Germani.
