The Cosentino Design Challenge 2013 international competition for students opens for entries
February 28, 2013
The Cosentino Group, leader in the production and distribution of innovative surfaces for architecture and design, is opening its 7th international Cosentino Design Challenge for entries at 9am on 28 February, in its two categories: Architecture and Design. Entry projects will be accepted until 8pm on 1 June 2013.
Cosentino Design Challenge is open to all students enrolled during the 2012-2013 academic year in any school or centre of higher education for design, architecture, interior architecture or similar areas of knowledge anywhere in the world.
Cosentino Design Challenge is an international competition with collaboration from twelve prestigious international schools and partners: American Society of Interior Designers (United States); University of Technology Sydney (Australia), Design Academy Eindhoven (Netherlands), Istituto Europeo di Design Milano and Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti Milano (Italy); Hochschule für Technik, Wirtschaft und Kultur Leipzig (Germany); and Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid, Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Barcelona, Escuela Superior de Diseño de Madrid, Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Sevilla, Escuela de Arte de Almería and Escuela de Arte Superior de Diseño de Alicante (Spain).
Every year the Cosentino Design Challenge aims to foster the talent of students, promoting research into the different conceptual approaches to the layout of spaces, materials and the construction systems that define them, using materials made by Cosentino Group. Moreover, all the research and reflection present going into each project should be based on the basic principle of environmental friendliness, and those of the reuse of resources and waste management.
The object of the Design category in this 7th edition of the competition is that students reflect on “Cosentino and the office”. Designs presented in this category are completely open to interpretation but must fall under this theme, and must feature Cosentino materials adapted for this purpose.
The object of the Architecture category is the design of an outdoor kitchen from an innovative conceptual perspective, mainly using Cosentino materials.
There will be three first prizes of 1,000 Euros each, three consolation prizes and three special mentions chosen by the judges. The judges, figures of acknowledged prestige in the world of architecture and design, will make their decisions known during the month of June 2013.
