Tell us about what you do.  I have always had a love for interiors and after our second son was born we decided to start our own business, Rowson Kitchens, while renovating our second home, in 2009. My husband Brad is a very talented joiner and I love both the challenge of a renovation and also the vast opportunity that a new build presents. In 2018, we moved into new premises in New Plymouth and that allowed us to really showcase our designs and vision in a beautiful space.    width= What are you known for?  I am known for creating very textured yet elegant spaces and for my enjoyment in pushing boundaries with material application. My designs are also very considered and thoughtful; I am a keen cook and know my way around a kitchen well and I feel this reflects in the functionality of my designs. I believe a kitchen should be both functional and aesthetically pleasing – the kitchen is such a highly utilised space in the home and it should be a joy to work in.   What’s your favourite Cosentino product to work with?  Tough question! I love the durability of Dekton but I also love a natural surface, so the Sensa range is also a favourite for its unique elements and stain-resistant qualities.  Tell us about a recent project you’ve worked on.  We recently completed a stunning project in Raglan that featured Dekton Liquid Shell. The seaside setting called for a natural palette and we featured Liquid Shell in the kitchen, including splash backs, and paired it with lovely Manhattan Oak joinery and bronze accents. We continued this palette in the laundry and bathrooms too, for cohesion, along with stunning custom Dekton vanities with recessed basins.  Image of JP1 4034 2 1 in Meet the Designer: Annika Rowson - Cosentino What design trend can we expect to see more of in 2022?  Natural stone is really gaining traction, along with large format tiles and slabs, and formed basins in bathrooms in natural, earthy tones.  What’s your top tip when it comes to creating a kitchen? Do your research and commission a designer whose aesthetics suits yours. Don’t skimp on key areas – benching, appliances and hardware are your high performing elements, so make sure you choose quality products and brands.
