Facing the bay of Sayulita (Mexico), the prisms face one another, offset in opposite directions to obtain the best views as well as optimize privacy, ventilation, and natural light. The project used the site’s sleep slope to add two floors below street level, the only two stories visible in front, where one enters through a walkway that rises over the central garden. The bridges connecting the two blocks stretch on to overlook this central garden on one side, and the bay on the other. Each volume has a small pool on the rooftop and each story features a covered terrace at the south end that becomes an extension of the communal areas. The plaster finish of the facades helps to keep the building’s scale small and provide a screen for the shadows cast by the vegetation of the premises.
