2022 marks “the beginning of the end” in the fight against Covid-19 and brings with it hope and a sense of rejuvenation. As hybrid work arrangement becomes a permanent feature of the modern, normal post-pandemic living, more people are reimagining their workspaces both at home and in the office to focus more on health consciousness and mental well-being.

Drawing inspiration from the lush verdant garden, the Garden Table is conceived to create a tranquil environment for work or study. The table’s central detail is the organic shaped cut-outs in the generous 2.4 by 1.2 meters crafted tabletop featuring Dekton® Umber, designed to house a large botanical that would rise from the ground. The opening allows for a wide array of generously-sized evergreen or tropical variant plants to be placed, reflecting each owner’s unique taste and therefore creating a variety of “garden settings”. The tabletop with its chamfered edges sits on top three sustainably-sourced Balau timber table legs as a nod to the Southeast Asia region, and are capped with bronze-tinted metal.

“The Garden Table recalls the carefree spirit of being outdoors on a sun-drenched summer’s day. Inspired by the gorgeous hand-hewn textures and warm earth tones of Dekton® Umber, the Garden Table provides a conceptual mise-en-scene: a backdrop to enjoy the restorative spirit of the outdoors and nature, whilst being indoors,” says Colin Seah, Founder and Design Director of multidisciplinary design practice Ministry of Design.

On why he chose the terracotta-hued Dekton® Umber, Seah explains, “As a spatial designer, the materials I choose play a significant role in shaping the experiences I create. The soothing earthy red tones of Dekton® Umber readily provide a welcome sense of refuge and wellness, which I feel we all need in our current unprecedented times.”
