Meet Danielle Ma, founder of interior design studio Maer Atelier. Danielle's passion for architecture was sparked during her final year student trip to Paris, where she found inspiration in the contrast between historical exteriors and modern interiors. Today, as the leader of her team, Danielle continues to push the boundaries of design by balancing form and function. With innovative, out-of-the-box ideas, they redefine spaces and create new possibilities for their clients.
“Everything in a space has to be balanced, even when we are doing a “more is more” design.”

Designing with purpose
Art and Design
Art is so flexible in a space, from being a seasoning to a main course. Often, I find inspiration from it. Artists are creative and can produce a piece without too many restrictions, which designers are unable to do fully. However, we could extract the essence from it and apply it to our design.
“Art is an expression of thoughts, emotions, intuitions, imagination, and creativity, and design is a functional art commissioned to its user.”
Reimagining the future of interior design
As technology and social media continue to advance, there has been a rising awareness and interest in home decor and interior design among individuals. The interior design industry in Singapore has been evolving to meet the changing needs and preferences of homeowners, and there is a growing emphasis on technology, sustainability, and personalisation.
“Working with Cosentino has been an exciting journey, exploring its myriad applications from the usual countertop application to floor, exterior, and feature element applications – even as lighting and furniture materials.”
