Singaporean architect Colin Seah is one of the first five creatives invited to reimagine the future bathroom for Cosentino’s C·Bath, a new bathroom-focused concept that showcases the brand’s capabilities in the bathroom spaces using its state-of-the-art, sustainably manufactured surfaces, as well as its custom bathroom fittings.

One of the exciting initiatives of C·Bath is The Bathelier, a portfolio of bathroom solutions by the world’s most exciting design luminaries, each of whom has reimagined the future bathroom using Silestone®, Dekton® and Sensa by Cosentino® lines in two design concepts. For The Bathelier’s first collection, Seah is joined by a cohort of award-winning creatives comprising Dutch designer Remy Meijers, American interior designer Claudia Afshar, Argentinian architect Daniel Germani, and Spanish multidisciplinary studio MUT Design, in presenting 10 concepts that take bathroom design to another level.

“The ideal bathroom is a sanctuary for holistic wellness, where body and mind are cleansed and nourished. Away from the hustle and bustle and distractions of the world around us, it offers a moment to immerse ourselves in healing sounds, aromas and textures,” says Colin Seah, who is Design Director and founder of Singapore-based studio Ministry of Design (MOD).

The US-trained architect’s innovative approach leads him to question conventions and redefine spaces in every project. Beyond spaces, Seah creates physical reflections on how design can act as a catalyst for change. He has overseen over 100 projects worldwide and has received numerous awards.

The Collage

The Collage balances contrasting colours to create a unique moment of holistic harmony with Dekton® Soke and Laurent, Silestone® Eternal Serena and Ethereal Noctis, as well as Simplicity washbasin and Rainfloor shower tray, that together is more than the sum of its parts.

The Cave

Personal hygiene and bathing habits have been around since primitive time. This inspired Seah to explore a space reminiscent of a cave, where the ritual of ablutions come to life in a dramatic bathroom with a view, articulated with three Dekton® colours: Bromo, Laurent and Awake, Silestone® Coral Clay and Sienna Ridge, Simplicity washbasin and Rainfloor shower tray.

Claudia Afshar x The Bathelier

“Wellbeing has never been as important in the bathroom as it is today, with functionality and aesthetics playing a key role,” says Los Angeles-based interior designer Claudia Afshar.

She is known for the stylish blend of LA and London influences. She started her career at Living Space, her mother’s award-winning interior design firm. Her houses, marked by an elegant and contemporary décor, are regularly featured in magazines such as Vogue and Elle Décor.

Ananda

In Hindu teachings, Ānanda means, among other things, “pure happiness,” which inspired Afshar to create a striking open plan space that conveys warmth with playful accents and textures on all surfaces. Here, Simplicity washbasin and Rainfloor shower tray exist harmoniously with Dekton® Umber and Nacre, which offers embracing, earthy warmth to its users.

Sawaru

Inspired by the Japanese word for “touch,” Sawaru is conceived as a sanctuary that explores the bathroom as a place of connection and self-care featuring Reflection M washbasin, Rainfloor shower tray, Silestone® Nolita, as well as Dekton® Marmorio and Nacre. It welcomes visitors through an entrance that conveys calm and tranquillity. Here, light tones and textures combine perfectly with the smooth curves, creating an atmosphere for personal care and complete relaxation for a dream spa experience.

MUT Design x The Bathelier

“Reconnecting with our body and mind to reach the ideal of healthy living has become a fundamental part of how we overcome stress in our lives. For us, a bathroom is that private, safe haven where this dialogue takes place,” say Alberto Sánchez and Eduardo Villalón, the design duo behind MUT Design.

Founded in 2010, the Valencia-based award-winning studio is one of the paragons of the new wave of Valencian designers. The studio’s contemporary style is a marriage between an essentialist design and a careful selection of materials and finishes.

The Resilient Home

A home is more than a roof and four walls to shelter us. It is the place that gives us the privacy and freedom to connect with ourselves, our lifestyle and our wellbeing. Drawing from this premise, MUT Design creates a tranquil contemporary take on Roman baths enclosed by the walls of a quarry – a nod to Cosentino’s origin – beautifully articulated with Dekton® Nacre and fitted with Silence L washbasin and Rainfloor shower tray.

Ellipse

Inspired by the expressionism and organic architecture of Torres Blancas in Madrid, this concept uses the curved, spiral and seashell shapes found in nature to convey emotions. The space articulated with Dekton® Avorio and Argentium, and fitted with HLine Urban washbasin and Rainfloor shower tray. Here, a partitioning element offers different levels of privacy in an open space formed with truncated cylindrical modules, which facilitate the flow from inside to outside and vice versa.

Remy Meijers x The Bathelier

“A bathroom should be a space to unwind and clear the mind. It is a place where you start and end your day, so it should be as calm and relaxing as possible,” says Remy Meijers. “It should also have plenty of room to move around, which is why it is better to refer to it as a bathing space rather than a bathroom.”

Meijers graduated with honours from the Department of Interior Architecture and Furniture Design at the Utrecht School of the Arts in 1995. His oeuvre spans interior design, architecture, furniture and accessory design, which he thinks as complementary parts that makes his design whole.

Urban Hideaway

Conceived as a set of architectural features that shape the space, this bathroom features a shower for two, a large washbasin and a spectacular oversized bathtub. Completing the spa-like experience are wooden elements that include a fireplace and an outdoor space with double shower and washbasin. It is a sanctuary for self-care articulated with Dekton® Lunar, Kreta and Laurent, as well as Reflection S washbasin and Rainfloor shower tray.

The Palazzo

An invitation to Indulge in the fusion of old and new, this space pairs classic, decorative elements like moulded ceiling and herringbone flooring with clean-cut minimalist contemporary elements like Marie Top L washbasin, Rainfloor shower tray, Dekton® Taga and Rem, and Silestone® White Zeus.

Daniel Germani x The Bathelier

Daniel Germani

“A visually appealing space is no longer enough to satisfy people,” says Daniel Germani. “Their needs and behaviours are key to creating an engaging and holistic experience and, more importantly, for wellbeing to flourish.”

Graduated as an architect in his native Argentina, Germani’s multi-disciplinary studio is based in Phoenix, Arizona. His distinctive rationalist style is influenced by modernism and Bauhaus movements, whose philosophy is simple: good design should always be honest and inspiring.

Ceppo

In this concept, Germani develops two separate vanity areas to adapt to the different needs of the users of the space. The space accommodates and balances many small daily rituals of self-care to enhance wellbeing. Germani creates a generously-sized space of calm and serenity using the striking Dekton® Ceppo that provides a beautifully Brutalist contrast to the Silence M washbasin and Rainfloor shower tray.

Travertino

Contemporary, intimate and sophisticated – this concept is a poetic mediation between the indoor and outdoor, clad in luxurious neutral shades of travertine-inspired Dekton® Marmorio and Sabbia and outfitted with Silence M washbasin and Rainfloor shower tray. Two walnut vanity units and a shelf lend an organic touch and provide users with discreet storage.
