Sergio García has just published his first cover for The New Yorker, a tribute to Eustace Tilley on his 96th anniversary.

Sergio García is one of the most experimental and prominent comic illustrators in Europe, his work often apperas in prsitgiud newspapers like El País or The New York Times. He is also devoted as a teacher in Angoulême and in his alma mater, the University of Granada. Taking a sample of the most representative works by the artist gives an understanding of the three concepts that articulate his research process.

El primero se basa en utilizar la narración multilineal para acabar con la distribución cuadriculada de la página, estrategia que favorece una lectura más ágil y dinámica. El segundo trata de acabar con el inveterado ‘formato-libro’; por ejemplo, el uso del póster aglutina en un solo dibujo toda la acción de la trama. Por último, uno de sus leitmotivs es el uso de los ‘contenedores de historias’, relatos dentro de una gran figura, como el de su reciente portada para The New Yorker.
