In the ‘STONE’ project designed by Karolina Zagrodzka (House Loves), every element has been planned with meticulous precision and a deep sensitivity to materials, proportions, and the overall atmosphere of the interior. This kitchen exemplifies harmonious combinations in which a natural colour palette, refined textures, and carefully crafted details create a coherent and consistent design narrative.
The power of material: Dekton Marmorio as the project’s key motif
At the heart of the composition lies Dekton Marmorio by Cosentino – a material inspired by travertine, distinguished by its exceptionally warm and natural character. Its subtle veining and matte, stone‑like surface soften the interior while introducing a touch of understated luxury.
The designer applied Dekton Marmorio not only on the island and worktop surfaces, but also across the walls of the sink zone and the upper cabinetry, creating a striking “architectural niche”. The repetition of the pattern enhances the monolithic effect, while the use of a single material across multiple planes strengthens the sense of visual purity and cohesion.
The geometry of the project is refined down to the smallest detail — from gentle curves to the balanced interplay of vertical and horizontal lines. The substantial island is visually softened by lightweight woven barstools and elegantly arched pendant lighting.
The result is a perfectly balanced space — poised between solidity and lightness, between architecture and home.
Wood as a complement and a color palette that calms and embraces
The oak cabinetry showcases craftsmanship at its finest. The direction of the grain, the tonal selection, and the texture of the wood were carefully chosen to create a subtle contrast with the ultracompact surface of the Dekton. The natural warmth of the wood counterbalances the coolness of the stone, and together these materials shape an atmosphere of refined harmony. The texture of the wooden fronts echoes the vertical pattern of Dekton Marmorio, further emphasizing the rhythm and proportions of the interior.
A composition built on beiges, soft browns, and muted greys brings a sense of calmness and comfort. This is a kitchen meant to be felt — in line with the designer’s intention that the user experiences it up close before taking in the full view. Brass accents (fixtures and decorative details) elevate the space with a touch of elegance, warming the palette without overpowering its subtle character.
A space designed for everyday living
The layout of the working zones and cabinetry lines supports an effortless workflow while maintaining the minimalist aesthetic of the kitchen.
Although visually cohesive and sophisticated, the project remains highly functional and ergonomically considered. Dekton — resistant to scratches, stains, and high temperatures — is an intentional and practical choice, appreciated by architects working with demanding users.
