Last summer, Macenas Mediterranean Resort in Mojácar celebrated the opening of its exclusive Social Club, an ambitious and elegant project designed by Archidom Studio. This new addition to the complex not only boasts a luxurious pool and lounge area, but also stands out for its architecture and design, in which Cosentino’s ultra-compact Dekton stone, available in a variety of finishes and colours, plays a key role.
Archidom Studio, the project’s creator, has focused on the site and the dialogue between it and the complex: “On the shores of the Mediterranean, the Social Club was conceived in search of an aesthetic to harmonise with its surroundings: a fusion of tradition and elegance. We have preserved the organic and natural essence by integrating vegetation, materials and textures that convey this character and create an intimate connection with the place”.
The use of Cosentino Dekton in this project was particularly noteworthy. “Thanks to the versatility of Cosentino materials, their use ranged from a large-scale concept to the smallest detail. In each room, it was either the main material or served as a backdrop,” explains the studio. The choice was no accident: Dekton’s hardness, resistance, and ease of maintenance and cleaning make it the ideal material for a luxury complex featuring a restaurant, swimming pool and shops that are exposed to coastal weather conditions.

As is always the case with Dekton, its integration into the project was a blend of functional requirements and aesthetic considerations. “Dekton’s combination of technical properties – colour, texture and design – made it the perfect material for this complex,” says Archidom Studio. Furthermore, the ease of cleaning and maintenance of the ultra-compact stone was also a key factor, especially given the large and heavily used common areas of the complex.
Adapting Dekton to the specific design of the Macenas Social Club presented its own challenges. “Designing cut-outs that fit the spaces, both inside and out, was complex, especially in the outdoor areas where there are many joints between different materials,” says the studio. One of the most impressive achievements was the creation of a Roman-inspired pattern of large slabs for the flooring of all the outdoor areas, whilst maintaining a water collection system that did not detract from the design.
The choice of Dekton was also made after careful consideration of other materials. “Marble and quartzite were considered for the bars, but due to the variety of Dekton options with superior characteristics and technical properties, we found it to be a more suitable material for them,” explains Archidom Studio.
The partnership with Cosentino was crucial to the success of the project. “They provided us with images of both the shades and the existing formats and sizes of the slabs, which was essential in designing the floor layout,” explains the studio, highlighting the support it received with the logistics of the project. With such a close working relationship, it was only natural that the result lived up to expectations. The refurbished Macenas Social Club is now the most sophisticated place on the Mojácar coast, if we can be so bold, especially when compared to its neighbouring beaches.
