In this project, named Cici, architect Murat Imamoglu once again chose Dekton by Cosentino. Cosentino materials have been used for some time due to their reliable quality and ease of processing. Dekton Khalo was selected for this design because of its striking appearance and the high-end aesthetics the material offers.
The client wanted to use large-format tiles with an expressive look in several bathrooms and toilets, while also maintaining harmony with more subdued materials. Therefore, one wall in each room was accented with Dekton Khalo, while the remaining walls were finished with microcement. This combination creates a harmonious whole.
An interesting design challenge arose in the shower, where a sloped ceiling had to be addressed. A slanted glass wall was installed, separating the space between the washbasin and the shower. This adds a unique visual dynamic to the room.
The most interesting architectural and decorative feature in this project is the custom-made washbasin made of Dekton Khalo. Together with the slanted glass wall in the shower, this forms a combination of sculptural elements and functional architecture that gives the space character. The balance between calm and expression was the guiding principle.
The choice for Cosentino materials was deliberate: “Cosentino delivers consistent quality. For example, the print quality of Dekton is excellent. The aesthetics are high-end, and the material is reliable to work with. Additionally, the 142x142 cm format is pleasant to work with—just slightly larger than standard alternatives,” said architect Murat Imamoglu.
In this specific application, several advantages became apparent. The 8 mm tile thickness makes the material workable without compromising strength. The dimensions are ideal for covering walls from floor to ceiling with just two tiles. Moreover, the material is scratch-resistant and easy to maintain.
However, precision was required when applying the material: the pattern of Dekton Khalo must align well when placing multiple tiles side by side. That can be a bit of a puzzle, but the result is absolutely worth it.
