A former data center on the outskirts of the Parisian district of Le Marais has been turned into a dream flat.
The exact location is the ground floor of a 1970s mixed-use building and the objective is a flexible, self-sufficient dwelling. The choice of materials evokes the decade of the original construction, so plexiglass, brightly colored metal joinery, and iridescent tones unify the different spaces and create a continuous scenography that could be a bedroom as easily as a showroom.
In pursuing a dreamlike place the architects take stock of the problems posed by the old facility, located on the ground floor with barely natural lighting or exterior views, and make them the strong points of their intervention, focusing on the main source of light, a skylight piercing the floor of the terrace garden above and turning the space into a kind of indoor courtyard for the dwelling.
