Cosentino Design Challenge 19 announces its winners

  • The international research and creative challenge for future architecture and design professionals announces the latest edition winning projects.
  • This edition has received a total of 323 projects, 102 in the Architecture category and 221 in the Design category, from more than 40 schools and universities in Europe, Asia and America.

Cantoria (Almeria), 20 June 2025 – Cosentino, global leading company in the production of innovative surfaces for architecture and design, announces the 19 edition winning projects of its international competition aimed at students, Cosentino Design Challenge (CDC). CDC is an international research and creative challenge for future architecture and design professionals.

The meeting and the decision of the jury took place today at Cosentino City Alicante (Spain). This year, the face-to-face jury was consisted of professors Lucía Pérez Lomas (School of Art and Design Val del Omar (Granada, Spain); Vrushali Mhatre (Heriot-Watt Dubai University); Oscar Gámez Bohórquez (Lulea University, LTU (Sweden); Bárbara Castillo (University of Design, Innovation and Technology – UDIT) (Madrid, Span); y Belén Puebla Martínez, from Madrid Rey Juan Carlos I University.

Santiago Alfonso, VP of Institutional Relations and Corporate Reputation of Cosentino Group, acted as president of the jury, which also had the outstanding participation of the architect and Director of de Srta. Rottenmeier Studio (Murcia, Spain), Gemma González; and local architect Roberto García.

323 proposals submitted

CDC 19 received a total of 323 projects (102 in the Architecture category, and 221 in the Design category), from different countries in Europe, America and Asia. It's worth noting that, in addition to the applications received from the 42 collaborating schools, proposals have also been received from students at other institutions in Chile, Argentina, China, Mexico, and the Czech Republic.

6 projects have emerged as winners, 3 have been selected for the Design category and other three for the Architecture category, which will be awarded 1,000 euros each. Both Design and Architecture sections also has threes runners-up prizes severally, which will receive a diploma.

Three winning projects, awarded €1,000 each

  • Modular Bandstand (ETSAM – UPM)
  • POLYDROP (Facultad de Arquitectura, Diseño y Urbanismo FAUD – Córdoba, Argentina)
  • STRATO (ETSAM – UPM)

Three runners-up prizes, awarded with a diploma

  • TO SIGHT AND SETTLE (UNIZAR)
  • BALANCE (Escuela de Arquitectura de Sevilla)
  • Construir rápido, habitar bien (ETSAG)

Three winning projects, awarded €1,000 each

  • ECOHAVEN (Berlin International University of Applied Sciences)
  • CORAL CROWN ( ESADA)
  • SILVA (ESADA)

Three runners-up prizes were awarded with diplomas.

  • Bosfera (Berlin International University of Applied Sciences)
  • BENCH & BLOOM (Berlin International University of Applied Sciences)

Cosentino Design Challenge

CDC is a research and creative challenge for future architecture and design professionals from all over the world. It is a unique opportunity that unites students with Cosentino, a world leader in its sector, and with its innovative surfaces Dekton®, Silestone® and Sensa by Cosentino®. Both architecture and design are two disciplines that are totally aligned and related to the business and activity carried out by the Spanish company on five continents.

Cosentino Design Challenge 19 has the collaboration and support of 42 schools and universities around the world that include this great challenge in their academic calendar, as well as free candidacies from other educational institutions.
