Architects Daniel Levinstein and Daniel Ben Shitrit have brought to life a unique project in Israel: a collection of 12 contemporary homes for Shorashim Boutique Ventures. The challenge was significant. The plot imposed limited buildability, requiring a functional approach and meticulous design.
The architects' response was an architecture of clean lines and modern style, inspired by the principles of the Bauhaus movement, which they greatly value. Each home integrates into the surrounding landscape, making the most of the light, views, and proximity to the natural environment. At the heart of this proposal lies a key element: the façade.
To clad the entire complex, Levinstein and Ben Shitrit chose Dekton Kovik by Cosentino. It was not a casual decision. “We wanted a high-quality material that combined aesthetics and durability,” they explain. Dekton Kovik, with its understated and elegant appearance, perfectly aligned with the project's vision. But beyond its beauty, its technical performance made it the logical choice.
Many benefits and advantages
Dekton stands out for its resistance to UV radiation, freeze-thaw cycles, abrasion, and stains, as well as being non-combustible. These qualities make it ideal for façades exposed to the most diverse climatic demands. In this case, they ensure that the homes will maintain their integrity and aesthetics for decades, with minimal maintenance.
Cosentino supports this commitment with a 25-year warranty on façade applications, an added value that provides peace of mind to developers and homeowners. Additionally, Dekton holds the Carbon Neutral certification, reflecting the company's commitment to sustainability, an increasingly relevant aspect in contemporary architecture.
Furthermore, the installation of the ventilated façade was carried out using a chemical fixing system (DKC) on vertical metal profiles. This system is quick and easy to execute, allowing for the assembly of a lightweight, double-height façade with a large format and a clean, minimalist result. The ventilated façade as a construction solution also offers significant advantages, particularly in improving energy efficiency and reducing the risks of interstitial condensation, among others, for greater occupant comfort.
Design that exudes modernity
The collection of 12 homes is not only an example of contemporary design but also a demonstration of how choosing the right material can make a difference. Dekton Kovik provides visual coherence, durability, and a timeless finish that harmonises with the surroundings without compromising modernity.
Although the architects are critical of certain current trends – such as the excessive reliance on artificial intelligence or the drastic reduction of construction costs – this project demonstrates that it is still possible to prioritise quality and material excellence. And while sustainability was not its main focus, the use of a carbon-neutral material adds a responsible touch to the work.
