Three Mediterranean and sensory bathrooms dressed in DKTN and Sensa

El Puerto de Andratx is one of the most privileged areas in Mallorca. Here lies this house with direct access to the sea, whose owners contacted Paulina Espinosa Miekwicz to renovate the three bathrooms. “The aim of the intervention was to transform them into functional yet sensory spaces, where every material, texture, and shape added aesthetic and emotional value,” recalls the professional.

In response, Espinosa Miekwicz designed three warm and sophisticated spaces, conceived as points of calm and disconnection. “The design is structured around a neutral palette, noble materials, and bespoke solutions, executed with precision and sensitivity. Each bathroom reflects a contemporary vision of Mediterranean style, where natural light, wood, stone, and continuous finishes create a harmonious and timeless experience,” she explains.

In this renovation, DKTN Nacre has been the main protagonist. Its cream colour, which oscillates between fine microcement and lime stucco, is marked by water streaks and a relief gradient that not only adds sensory value but also fits perfectly with the Mediterranean style sought by the designer.

“DKTN Nacre was used in multiple applications within the bathrooms: vertical cladding, integrated basins, and large-format shower trays. Its soft tone and silky texture allow for continuous surfaces that provide visual lightness and a sense of spaciousness highly appreciated in bathroom spaces. Additionally, its matt finish offers an elegant and timeless aesthetic without competing with other materials present,” she explains.

Beyond its appearance, Espinosa Miekwicz also values the surface's ease of use: “Working with Cosentino means relying on highly reliable materials, both technically and aesthetically. For a studio like ours, which focuses on turnkey projects, it is essential that materials behave predictably and meet demanding standards of precision, durability, and beauty. DKTN's performance on-site was impeccable, and it is also a material that performs very well in daily use. Its low porosity makes it stain-resistant and easy to clean, even with neutral products. This makes it a perfect choice for bathroom spaces, where aesthetics must go hand in hand with functionality.”

One of the challenges of this project was ensuring that each piece fit into complex areas, such as shower trays between walls or suspended basins. “We had to integrate large-format elements into an existing structure, where the margins for error were minimal. We worked in small spaces with limited access and complex geometries, so each piece had to be meticulously designed and placed,” she recalls.

Fortunately, thanks to precise planning and proper coordination between design and construction, the installation proceeded without unpleasant surprises. “We requested custom-cut pieces with calculated margins to ensure they fit perfectly. Cosentino allowed us to design without limitations, with the confidence that each piece (from worktops to shower trays) would fit to the millimetre at the time of installation,” she states.

The guest toilet, in line with the rest of the décor, has a simple appearance. However, there is one piece that breaks this simplicity and stands out significantly: the bespoke basin created in Brazilian quartzite Sensa Taj Mahal. This natural stone with a stain-resistant treatment showcases a beautiful succession of beige layers with grey and golden veins in varying intensities, giving it a finish that is both sophisticated and organic.

“It is the standout piece of the space. Its presence subtly contrasts with the microcement walls, creating a dialogue between the artisanal and the contemporary. This combination, visible in the images, generates a warm, serene, and sophisticated atmosphere,” summarises the designer.
