A comfortable, elegant and private three-storey home

Converting three floors of a residential building into a single family dwelling. This was the project developed by Leal Ribas, a studio based in Curitiba, Paraná (Brazil). The 600-metre space has been completely refurbished to meet the needs of a couple and their two daughters “with a lot of comfort, luxury, privacy and functionality”, in the words of the studio. The aim was “to transform the space into a haven for the family”.

According to the studio, to achieve this they used materials that “have comfort, modernity and technology in their DNA”. “That is why we chose Dekton and Silestone, both from Cosentino”. In fact, the ultra-compact Dekton surface was used for the garden flooring, the swimming pool cladding and all the worktops in the bathrooms, the laundry room and the gourmet kitchen, demonstrating its great versatility. As for Silestone, it was used for some furniture, including the living room table, as well as for the indoor flooring.

Echoes of fine marbles thanks to Silestone and Dekton

“With a contemporary language, the project connects the different social spaces, prioritising comfort and functionality”, the studio says. Therefore, the most social and open-plan spaces are located on the first floor, which also has a bathroom (featuring a modern grey finish in Silestone Cemento Spa), a guest room and a gourmet kitchen.

The kitchen is equipped with a worktop in Dekton Aura, whose surface evokes the fine patterns of Calacatta and Carrara marbles, as well as a 5 m2 bespoke table in Silestone Eternal Marquina, a black background crossed by white veins reminiscent of Marquina marble (Spanish black marble).

Also on the first floor are the living room and dining room, with direct access to the garden, where the star of this home is located: a heated swimming pool with automated retractable awning by M.Decor and featuring Dekton Keon.

Dekton Keon for a modern and functional heated swimming pool

The light and bright shade of Dekton Keon is perfect for modern spaces and brings naturalness to the swimming pool. Dekton’s technical and high performance properties, including its low porosity, give this space the required quality.

Also in the same area, Dekton Keon was used for the spa and garden flooring, with landscaping by William Greboge. To complement this leisure area, there is a private and fully equipped gym for the exclusive use of the owners. Dekton Domoos, a graphite black tone, was the surface chosen for the countertop and washbasin in the gym bathroom.

Dekton Entzo and Dekton Glacier for bathrooms with character

On the second floor are the two daughters’ bedrooms, each with an en suite bathroom. One of them has a washbasin and countertop in Dekton Entzo, a colour inspired by Calacatta Gold marble whose random golden veining exudes realism and naturalness. The other features Dekton Glacier, an ultra glossy surface with fine golden veins over a white background.

The two bedrooms are connected by a playroom in between, designed to accompany the children as they grow up and, eventually, become a library and study room.

Silestone Miami White17 to bring sophistication and modernity to the whole house

On the third floor is the dressing room and the master suite with an en suite bathroom, spacious and elegant, with materials and finishes specifically chosen for the couple. Silestone Miami White17, a classic, understated white tone that is perfect for bringing modernity and warmth to spaces, was used for the flooring on all three floors, the stairs and the worktops in the laundry room.

“In addition to beauty and versatility, Cosentino products offer durability, low porosity, easy maintenance and cleaning, and high resistance to sudden changes in temperature. For all these reasons, they were used in the common and outdoor areas as well as in the rest of the house”, the studio concludes.

Dekton: a durable material for a glued façade

Located in the coastal town of Vera (Almería) and featuring a modern design and top quality materials is the newly built home of a prominent local builder. For the indoor and outdoor spaces of his new home, the builder has relied on Cosentino’s materials, as he usually does for his professional projects.

For the unique glued façade of this house, 520 m2 of Dekton surfaces were used. Specifically, the colour chosen was Blanc Concrete, an aged white with small spots and veins in light grey and beige that give the façade a flawless appearance. Glued façade systems provide building claddings with excellent visual results and lower maintenance compared to other finishes. This system allows the ultra-compact surface by Cosentino to be glued directly to the exterior plaster of the building.

Dekton is an ultra-compact material with unique properties in terms of versatility and resistance. In fact, it can withstand all types of weather conditions while maintaining its appearance and insulating properties throughout its entire lifespan. Even when exposed to the constant and powerful sunlight typical of Almería!

A ventilated façade also by Dekton

A ventilated façade is a façade construction system that has an air gap between the cladding and the insulation, which eliminates thermal bridges and condensation problems. This provides excellent thermal performance and prevents moisture.

This house in Vera combines a glued façade system with a ventilated façade system, which extends over 175 m2. Dekton was the material of choice for both types of façade systems. As for the colours, Blanc Concrete and Fossil -a dark grey background crossed by very natural veins and spots- were chosen. Its finish gives the material an aged and old look typical of fossilised pieces, creating a modern contrast full of character when combined with Dekton Blanc Concrete.

Exclusive flats with a beautifully designed facade in Málaga

In a privileged location in Málaga, close to the residential area of El Limonar, is this exclusive development of flats for sale called Eleven. The project is located in a strategic enclave, with all kinds of services in the vicinity and well connected to the city’s landmarks. Its proximity to the sea, just a few metres from La Malagueta Beach, and to the old town, can be seen in the architectural design by the architects of DTR_studio from its very facade.

The white colour, the pure, horizontal lines and the polished finishes of the facade, in which Dekton plays a prominent role, make this design a blend of the contemporary and the reminiscences of Mediterranean tradition.

A material that blends in with its surroundings

‘The polished material mirrors the image of the surrounding trees,’ say the architects, referring to the area where Dekton Blaze surface was installed, a greyish tone with metallic tints which, in its glossy finish, enhances the shine and elegantly reflects the sunlight and the context. The landscaped areas of the project extend into the building. This is not the only colour used on the facade of this development, as the architects made the most of the vast array of Dekton finishes to create a unique combination of different colours, all in neutral shades.

Dekton Blaze was complemented by other colours such as Dekton Kovic, with its neutral grey base tone and natural veining; Dekton Eter, with its dark granite structure and contemporary feel; and Dekton Sasea, an elegant and refined cream shade.

Large format and adhesive system

The wide range of options, as well as the large format of the slabs and the technical features of the material (such as strength and durability), were the reasons why Dekton was chosen for this ventilated facade. In this case, 4 and 8 mm thick Dekton slabs were used, weighing 10 and 20 kg/m2 respectively, which, due to their lightness, facilitate their handling and installation on site.

A seamless cladding without visible fixings, which is what the architect wanted in his design, was achieved with an adhesive system, which includes the pre-treatment and priming of the profile and the Dekton slab, a double-sided tape and a bead of adhesive. Visible safety clips in a similar colour to the Dekton slab were also fitted as additional fixings. This system allows the planner to freely place the pieces in any format and layout. Installation must be carried out by a qualified fitter and in accordance with the supplier’s temperature control instructions at the time of installation.

A conference centre to ‘foster generosity’

The House of Vic-Ryn shopping centre in Lisburn, Northern Ireland, has opened a new conference and event centre, the T3 Conference Centre. The space consists of four main rooms that can be connected to each other. Each room has been designed and equipped to the highest standards, featuring top quality products.

Another noteworthy aspect of this centre, run by a charitable organisation, is that it does not charge for using these spaces in the traditional sense, as it aims to promote generosity and partnership in the area. Thus, the mission of the T3 Conference Centre is to encourage individuals, businesses and charities to work together in partnership.

A project with proven quality thanks to Cosentino

Heading the centre project is Warwick McCullough from HPA Architecture. In terms of design, he points out: ‘The client wanted it to be an “outstanding” project, demonstrating quality and excellence in the finish with maximum capability in every detail. The choice of robust and easy-to-maintain products was another of the objectives to be met, so Dekton by Cosentino immediately came to mind’.

Warwick continues explaining: ‘Having used Cosentino on previous projects, I knew it was perfect for the specifications of this application. Furthermore, the wide range of colours available allowed us to choose the one that offered the desired look and feel’. The professional refers in this case to Dekton Kelya, a shade inspired by dark marbles with light veining that exactly matched the idea of the project.

‘Technically, it was ideal for its inherent strength, and left us room for creativity in the equipment elements that were designed to go with it. Moreover, it more than met the requirements,’ points out the architect.

Dekton Kelya, a dark marble look for a perfect finish

12 mm thick Dekton Kelya slabs were used for the boardroom table, worktops (including the office worktop), bars and door fronts. All these features were mounted on a metal frame to achieve the flawless, high quality finish that the client was looking for.

The Cosentino’s features used in the project were installed by Mid Ulster Granite & Stone. The company has been manufacturing stone products for over 60 years and is Cosentino’s only Platinum rated partner in Northern Ireland.

Warwick says: ‘I think it is of utmost importance for architects and designers to visit the Cosentino showroom in Crumlin when planning any project, so that they can see the full range of products and slab specifications before making a final decision’.

During that time, it has worked with numerous commercial developers to produce bathroom furniture, worktops and restaurant bars, as well as all types of cladding for hotels, bars, offices, property developments, airports and cruise ships, always being aware of the importance and requirements of such projects and striving to maintain a high standard of work on large and small projects.

Dekton Rem, marble effect for a premium look

Located in the heart of Bethnal Green in vibrant East London, The Water House Project is a fine dining experience that offers exquisite elegance in an informal atmosphere. Founded by Gabriel Waterhouse, former chef of the Michelin-starred Galvin La Chapelle, the restaurant was conceived with the intention of bridging the gap between the elegance of fine dining and relaxed and comfortable spaces.

Its stylish interior has been designed by Hi-Spec Design, specialists in bespoke German and Italian kitchen furniture, and features Dekton Rem, a luxurious marble-effect surface, both for the work surfaces and chef’s table (both 20 mm thick) and for the wall cladding (8 mm thick).

Dekton Rem is part of the Natural Collection from Cosentino. This ultra-compact surface is available in thicknesses of 4, 8, 12 and 20 mm and in a 320 x 144 cm format. Inspired by elegant white marble with swirling veins, its intricate design features brown and grey veining with touches of gold, reminiscent of the traditional nature of Calacatta marble.

All Dekton surfaces were manufactured by JR Stone, a company specialising in fine granite and ultra-compact surfaces.

Dekton, a carbon neutral material perfect for a sustainable restaurant

The Water House Project’s menus change monthly and are based on local, seasonal ingredients carefully selected when they are at their best. In addition, the restaurant’s wines are sourced from small producers in Europe using traditional, low intervention wine making methods, giving back to the soil what they have taken from it. Last but not least, meat and fish are used in small quantities and always from ethically and sustainably raised animals.

Waterhouse therefore only partners with suppliers who share its commitment to sustainability, such as Cosentino. In this sense, Dekton is the perfect choice for this busy restaurant, as it is a carbon neutral product throughout its life cycle, a key factor supported by emission reduction projects and Grupo Cosentino’s good practices in terms of environmental management, contributing to the fight against climate change.

Exceptionally durable surfaces with Dekton

Furthermore, Dekton’s features in terms of durability guarantee a long service life. In fact, Dekton surfaces have a 25-year warranty. Dekton is highly resistant to scratches, stains, fire and heat, making it ideal for commercial and residential projects as it can be used for work surfaces, claddings, stairs, floors, furniture and more, both indoors and outdoors.

Gabriel Waterhouse chose Dekton because of its sustainability, technical features and premium look, which fits perfectly in this open plan restaurant where the chef’s table is visible to the diners.

“Dekton worktops really frame our entire kitchen and are the perfect finishing touch. They are long-lasting and perfect for maintaining the overall design concept, which is just what we needed”.

Over 90 comfortably designed homes

The Antas Build development is a residential project based in Alameda das Antas, in the heart of Porto. This contemporary complex designed by JBMM architects comprises a total of 93 houses and seven shopping and service areas and restaurants. ‘It covers a surface area of approximately 10,000 square metres and offers quality residential facilities that respond to the need for functional housing that meets current requirements at all levels – comfort, acoustic and thermal – as well as the aesthetic aspect and the expected urban framework,’ explains Joaquim Bragança, the studio’s architect.

The building also boasts an outdoor courtyard, located within the development, which is reserved for the exclusive use of the owners and which has been carefully landscaped. The ground floor consists of shops and services for the general public, ‘thus contributing to the revitalisation of this area under development of the Antas Detail Plan (Plan de Detalle de Antas),’ explains Bragança. In terms of aesthetics, both the façade and the interiors feature a refined design, with straight lines and materials in light shades. ‘Cosentino materials were mainly used for the cladding of the building’s façades and in the execution of the kitchens, but also for the balconies sills, as well as for parts of the flooring,’ he adds.

A pure white kitchen

‘Cosentino materials provided strong guarantees both aesthetically and in terms of the specifications of the type of fixing and construction details required, and also, specifically in the case of kitchens, to meet the demands of homebuyers,’ points out the architect. Specifically, Silestone Miami White was used in the kitchens, as it is a colour that conveys a great sense of purity with its clean, bright white.

Dekton as the main feature

While Dekton Tundra was placed on the floor, Dekton Nayla took centre stage on the façade thanks to its matt grained white that adds lots of character. ‘Dekton not only helped us to find a solution that would immediately comply with the limitations on finishes dictated by the Antas Detail Plan regulations, but would essentially comply with the proposed elevation design and the overall image of the building. The aim was to follow the stereotomy suggested in the architectural project, both in terms of the size of the pieces used and the type of construction details to be achieved with concealed fixing of the entire façade cladding,’ explains the architect in charge of the project. ‘It was also possible to use Dekton for the balcony sills and other features next to the exterior openings, helping to bring harmony to all the elements that make up the elevations along their entire length.’

Design focused on maximum use of the slab and adhesive bonding

The need for a seamless cladding without visible fixings was solved with a ventilated façade using an adhesive system, which allows the planner to freely place the pieces in any format and in any layout. Visible safety clips lacquered in a similar colour to the Dekton pieces were also included as additional fixings. The ventilated façade allows a continuous insulating layer to be installed on the supporting wall which, together with the ventilated air gap, contributes to increasing the thermal and acoustic comfort of the building, as well as to greater efficiency by reducing the energy required for air-conditioning.

Most of the formats used in the project were 1,400 x 3,170 mm, which means that the slab was used almost 100% and is therefore a highly competitive option from an economic point of view. To achieve this maximum use of the slab, it is essential that the architect follows the recommendations of the sales team.

The ideal solution

According to the studio, the most important properties of Dekton for architects to choose it as a material for the façade were, above all, the different formats available, the wide variety of finishes and the method of fixing the pieces. In addition, other characteristics of this surface make it ideal for both façades and kitchens, such as its high resistance to stains, scratches, temperature changes, as well as the sustainable properties of the material.

‘Dekton not only helped us to find a solution that would immediately comply with the limitations on finishes dictated by the Antas Detail Plan regulations, but would essentially comply with the proposed elevation design and the overall image of the building.’

An elegant facade in TriBeCa

Welcome to the cobblestone-lined streets of the bustling TriBeCa neighborhood in New York City, the home of the 79 Warren St. mixed-use building. Nestled between two other structures, this building consists of commercial retail space on the bottom floor and luxury residences on the top two stories.

PACS Architecture was tasked with refurbishing this old structure and replacing the existing brick facade. They needed a material that not only looked beautiful, but could also be installed seamlessly. Since the structure is located on a busy street, the material also needed to be resistant to heavy foot and car traffic, stains, scratches, UV rays, and extreme weather patterns - and that’s where Dekton comes in.

79Warren 2
79Warren 1

A total of 750 sq. ft. of two Dekton colors - Irok and Kelya - were specified for the facade. Irok, a creamy beige tone, is the predominant surface, creating a finish that perfectly integrates with its surroundings. A touch of Kelya was used for the cornice sitting directly on top of Irok. The dark brown of Kelya creates a harmonious balance with the lighter shade below, giving the building a unique edge.

Additionally, Dekton is also non-combustible, graffiti-proof, freeze/thaw cycle resistant and requires no maintenance. A true city-proof facade that will stand the test of time in New York City.

Urban style for a country house with attention to detail

After a year and a half of planning, design and construction, the family of Kristin and Borgar Lindhjems and their two children have finally moved into their new country house in Tjodalyng, Norway. The owners of this newly built home have also been its designers. Kristin has experience as an interior designer and communications consultant, while Borgar has experience as an engineer, project manager and property developer. Together, they form a super team that has created a dream home, modern and made of brick, with a totally urban style.

The couple had already worked together on other major projects, such as a house in Oslo which was awarded as the most beautiful house in Norway by BoligPluss magazine in 2017. Their background and experience support their careful choice of materials, colours and combinations. In this project, it was their kitchen supplier, Sigal, who introduced them to Dekton, the material that would become the star of their kitchen. The worktops and splashback, manufactured and fitted by Steinriket, boast an elegant finish thanks to Dekton.

A functional kitchen

“The first thing that caught my attention was the colour. I really wanted to use marble, but it’s less functional. Especially when you have kids. So I was looking for something that could offer that stone feel”, says Kristin about her choice of worktop material. “Dekton’s functionality is a great advantage. It fits well with our desire to have a home that is easy to maintain, kid-friendly, beautiful and practical”, says Kristin. Therefore, the island worktop, the rest of the kitchen worktops and the splashback are clad in Dekton, which ensures easy maintenance and a long service life. This ultra-compact and carbon neutral surface is fully heat resistant, so that hot pans can be placed directly on it.

A premium colour

The worktop, island and splashback are clad in Dekton Taga. “This colour matched the rest of the shades we had chosen for the kitchen and the ebony wood cladding of the island”, says Kristin. Inspired by Taj Mahal quartzite, Dekton Stonika Taga is an interpretation of natural stone adapted to the latest trends. Its greyish background crossed by marbled and crystalline veins and its extraordinary shine bring elegance and a powerful look to any space. In addition, its almost zero porosity prevents it from staining. All of this, together with its great resistance to scratches and sudden changes in temperature, make it the perfect surface for kitchens.

Medieval charm with the latest amenities

The ExteAundi Hotel Boutique is located in the Oñati valley, in the heart of the Spanish province of Gipuzkoa. It occupies a 13th-century building that was once the old ancestral home of the Lazarraga family, in Oñati. In fact, it was the first home of such an iconic family name.

The exterior of the building retains its medieval charm, while inside, its 21 rooms are the perfect combination of design, comfort and style thanks to the recent renovation. The hotel also has a restaurant that offers updated traditional cuisine.

The use of Cosentino materials, Dekton and Silestone, stand out throughout the building. “Working with Cosentino materials has been very easy and pleasant and we have achieved excellent results”, says architect Tamara Amaral, of North Home Studio. “Without a doubt, it has exceeded our expectations. Its wide range of available finishes are a source of possibilities when it comes to creating different compositions”, says the architect.

Serene and stylish colours by Dekton for bathroom wall and floor claddings

Different Dekton colours, Cosentino’s innovative, ultra-compact and high-performance surface, have been used to clad the walls of the hotel’s bathrooms, including the showers, thanks to its high heat resistance and very low water absorption.

Among the chosen colours, Dekton Entzo stands out. Inspired by the renowned Calacatta gold marble, this elegant colour adds a touch of realism and authenticity thanks to the random pattern of its golden veining.

The warm grey of Dekton Edora, suitable for both classic and avant-garde styles, has been used in the wet areas of the hotel. This surface creates minimalist and neutral environments that make it easy to play with other colours.

Dekton Sasea, a colour inspired by Sahel limestone, has been used in combination with Entzo to clad some of the hotel’s showers. Sasea features a cream-grey background full of details, yet soft and gentle, which has all the elegance of Sahel limestone and all the quality of Dekton.

The play of colours comes to an end with the floors in Dekton Domoos and Dekton Bergen. Domoos features a graphite black background with a pure design, while Bergen is inspired by Portobello stone, featuring beautiful greyish veins with a sculptural pattern running through its off-white background.

Shower trays and washbasins by Silestone: ultimate customisation

Silestone is a material of extraordinary hardness and durability, able to stand the test of time in perfect condition, even when exposed to impacts or scratches. It also offers a wide range of elegant and innovative models, among which Amaral has chosen Elegance.

Elegance is a washbasin available in two different textures that can also be made to measure, allowing you to create uniform and elegant designs. Choosing a colour was not an easy task, as Silestone offers a wide range of colours. In this case, the colour chosen was Rougui, a colour that blends harmoniously with the rest of the tones used in the bathroom.

As for the shower trays, the interior designer opted for the Exelis model in the same colour. Exelis features a simple but robust design, with a four-way drainage system that makes it suitable for any need. Furthermore, its textured finish provides great anti-slip properties.

A bespoke worktop for a user-friendly refreshment area

The hotel’s refreshment area has a mini fridge and several coffee machines and was designed to serve as a meeting and refreshment point. The room features a sober design in which one Cosentino product takes central stage. The worktop in Dekton Kelya, a colour inspired by dark marbles with light veins, provides the WOW effect thanks to its texture and character. A colour designed to embellish the most exclusive environments, such as this unique hotel, which has been brought up to date without losing its essence.
