Innovation, approachability and continuous hard work are the identifying features shared by the tennis player and our brand of revolutionary ultracompact surfaces.

Having recently flown into London, and just a few days before competing in the ATP Finals, the "Masters Tournament" (held from 12 to 19 November), Rafael Nadal, the current number one in world tennis, launched the Industrial series from Dekton®, the brand of ultracompact surfaces by Cosentino. Attending the event were a group of clients, partners and members of the influential community of London architects and designers.

The sportsman, who hails from Manacor, Majorca, is a world ambassador for the brand, having chosen Dekton (and Silestone) materials for a wide range of applications at his Tennis Academy, including façades, floors and wall cladding. When it comes to Nadal and Dekton, success is the only thing that springs to mind. A winner of 16 Gran Slam tournaments to date, he is the second highest ranked professional player, in terms of "big" titles, in tennis history. He is also an Olympic gold medallist and was a member of a winning Davis Cup team.

For its part, the revolutionary Dekton surface marks a watershed in the world of architecture and design. It is made from the same sophisticated raw materials as used in the manufacture of glass, porcelain and quartz surfaces, and this gives it unique features found nowhere else on the market. At the London Marriott Hotel County Hall, the venue for the launch event, the world's top tennis player had this to say about the "Industrial" series: "I'm sure the colours from the Dekton Industrial series will be very popular and a great success."

This new collection has been created as a tribute to the beautiful imperfections found in metal and stone as they go through the various stages of the ageing process. The series features the following four models: Trilium, which offers a blend of colours inspired by volcanic stones and includes details in intense grey and black tones; Radium, which reproduces the effect of a rusted steel plate corroded by acid; Nilium, which is inspired by a silver-plated metal and offers a subtle blend of white and grey tones; and last but not least, Orix, which reproduces a worn-cement effect.

Rafa Nadal's best attribute is his versatility, achieved through tenacity and a dedication to training, and demonstrated by his status as an "artificial" left-hander. Likewise, Dekton® is available in a range of differently shaped cuts, which simplifies the work of architects and designers to produce excellent results. At the London launch, the top sportsman also commented: "From the outset, I've enjoyed a very good relationship with Cosentino. The fact that it's a family firm, something I value highly in my life, makes the relationship even stronger, if that were possible. Innovation, approachability and continuous hard work are other qualities I value, and ones I'm delighted to share with a company such as Cosentino."
