Few celebrities have been able to resist the exquisite taste of Víctor Blanco, the Spanish fashion stylist and talent. When the time came to renovate his own home, he knew exactly what he wanted. Together with his partner Jesús Verdú, who did the decorating, they created an incredibly elegant, sophisticated, warm and charming residence. Naturally, Cosentino played a major role in bringing some of these wonderful spaces to life.
Originally from Catalonia but now based in Madrid, Víctor’s style exudes a distinctly Californian feel, a delightful blend of mid-century aesthetics and Pacific Rim whimsy that is reflected in his almost brand new home.
A black and white hall
The entrance hall to the house is a real statement of intent: a white sideboard and a black and white chequerboard floor welcome guests, not only defining the space but also eliminating the need for access doors. Here, Cosentino materials were chosen to achieve the desired style. Specifically, the stylist used Dekton Kairos and Dekton Sirius.
Due to its unique characteristics, Dekton Kairos closely resembles one of the purest and coldest marbles on the market: statuary marble. Fine veins in pale grey stand out against its luminous background. Dekton Sirius, on the other hand, is a black colour with a textured visual feel and greenish touches that bring realism and strength to any space.
A kitchen that catches the eye
As soon as you enter the house, you will notice certain elements: the absence of doors in the communal areas, the predominance of neutral colours so that the décor provides a contrast, and a bolder approach in certain areas. With this in mind, the kitchen, with its island, stands out against the aged beams and high ceilings as a pure modern delight.
Dekton Awake plays a pivotal role in one of the most important rooms in the house, acting as the unifying element of three rooms that the homeowners consider essential for a highly social life. As for Dekton Awake, it reinterprets the iconic attributes of the precious Paonazzo stone. The thick veining with gradients of light grey and cream, with luscious rusty terracotta and subtle hints of inky blue, perfectly complements the stunning 50-kilo pink lamp and all the other details in the same colour, as well as the gold accents that dominate the whole house.
Two bathrooms in one material
There are two bathrooms in the house and, according to Blanco, one is more masculine than the other, depending on the homeowners’ preferences. The ultra-compact Cosentino stone was used in both.
In off-white shades, with transparencies and gradients reminiscent of Roman stucco that imitates white marble, Dekton Albarium has a matt finish, although depending on the incidence of light, reflections and sheen can be seen that simulate marble dust. The other feature in the main bathroom is Dekton Laurent. Inspired by the natural stone Port Laurent, the texture of this surface brings an interplay of nuances that enhance the contrast of its tones. Thus its golden veins establish a hierarchy in the space and bring warmth to a cold, dark background, which in turn add depth to the overall effect.
Meanwhile, in the guest bathroom, Dekton Trance and Dekton Aeris were a perfect match. The first choice, Dekton Trance, is a fluid colour with a bluish veil. The background reveals a combination of cream and grey colours, a mix of tones that blend with the white palette. The fine veins move between oxides and fade to reddish gold. The second choice, Aeris, is a colour that boasts light tones with cream-coloured detail inspired by white limestone. A neutral and subtle shade that allows a great variety of combinations for different environments and architectural styles.
