Game of lights and textures for a minimal space

María Villalón has brought back to life an old flat from the 1960s located on Fuencarral street, in central Madrid. With this renovation project, Villalón successfully managed to transform the old, dark rooms into brand new spaces filled with natural light. One of the key aims for the interior designer in this project was to open up the spaces and let natural light flood in, from the livelier spaces designed for sharing, such as the kitchen and living room, to the back of the hallway and the more intimate areas of the house.

A kitchen that breathes innovation

In the kitchen, one of the most used and needed rooms in any home, cupboards, storage drawers and electrical appliances are hidden in different wooden modules that feature a refined and sophisticated design.

Dekton, Cosentino’s ultra-compact, Carbon Neutral surface, was the material of choice for the worktop and central island. The Cosentino surface is the perfect choice if you are looking to enjoy your kitchen without worrying about everyday stains or scratches and impacts from kitchen utensils. The colour chosen, Dekton Kira, features a matt texture and a background in earth tones crossed by delicate light grey veins, a timeless design inspired by Gris Pulpis natural stone.

The result is a perfect combination of colours and textures that, together with the fine pieces of furniture and art, redefine the concept of luxury, a warm and plain luxury.

A sober and elegant design yet at the same time welcoming, specially thanks to the oak wood used in many of its corners and the cream shades of much of its furniture. Functionality and comfort are found in every detail, adding value with the bare essentials.

The final result fully achieves the objective set by María Villalón’s team: a space capable of conveying serenity and warmth through the use of few but high quality elements and lots of natural light.
