Tini Tjemerlang, the designer behind Tini TJ Interiors, is known for creating elegant and comfortable spaces with neutral tones and natural textures. In her latest project, a spacious home in Medan (Indonesia), she has followed this recognisable pattern, resulting in an elevated, refined, and serene atmosphere. “For this project, I focused on creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere by combining solid colours with natural wood accents. The large windows frame the pool and garden, blurring the boundaries between indoor and outdoor spaces. And the use of Cosentino surfaces ties the whole concept together, balancing design aesthetics with functionality,” she explains.
“Dekton gives me peace of mind as a designer”
In this case, the brand's materials have been used in spaces subject to significant wear, such as the façade, kitchen, and bathroom. “In highly functional areas like the façade and kitchen, I needed a material with exceptional durability and performance. Dekton by Cosentino perfectly met these requirements, offering resistance, longevity, and design versatility,” recalls Tjemerlang.
For the designer, using Dekton is a guarantee of satisfaction: “It significantly reduces maintenance needs, which translates into fewer issues and greater client satisfaction. It is reliable, durable, and gives me peace of mind as a designer.”
A durable and sustainable façade
Thanks to the use of Dekton on the façade, the designer ensures that the home's appearance withstands time and weather conditions. Cosentino's ultracompact surface is completely resistant to temperature changes and stains, is easy to maintain, and also comes with a 25-year warranty for façade applications. Another advantage is its contribution to the building's sustainability, as it is a Carbon Neutral product throughout its lifecycle.
The fixing of the slabs, in this case, was carried out using a mortared system and C2S2 adhesive according to UNE-EN 12004 standards with a safety clip, allowing large-format cuts to be made, adapting to the geometric designs of the home.
Refined and timeless colours
The chosen colours, Dekton Danae, Kelya, and Aura, also meet the requirements sought by the interior designer, who wanted a timeless and neutral palette for this home, with solid tones and subtle textures. The choice reflects a clear goal: to create a classic and elegant look that does not feel outdated over time.
Thus, Dekton Danae is used on the façade, whose surface with various beige tones seems to capture the essence of desert sand movement. Dekton Kelya, on the other hand, was chosen for the stunning waterfall island, with generous proportions and a dining area. Its tone, which instantly catches the eye, is inspired by dark marbles with light veins, making it unmistakable.
Finally, Dekton Aura is present in the bathroom vanities and another kitchen. On its white background, the colour evokes the natural veins of Calacatta and Carrara marbles.
