In Pensier (Switzerland), a large home has just been clad with Dekton to modernise its finish and improve its aesthetic appeal and durability. “Dekton guarantees long-term durability, resisting UV rays, temperature fluctuations, and weathering, while maintaining its aesthetic appeal over time,” explain Reidick, who are in charge of the project.
Specifically, the colours Dekton Aeris and Dekton Orix were used for the façade. The former is a neutral with light tones, featuring cream details inspired by Piedra Paloma limestone. The latter evokes weathered cement with a colour combination created from various shades of grey, blue, and green.
“The façade features large-format ventilated panels in light and dark tones, creating a modern, durable, and low-maintenance finish,” note Reidick. The team is delighted with working with Dekton as a surface for this application: “It offers resistance, protection against external conditions, and lasting visual quality,” they affirm.
The challenge: meeting technical and aesthetic requirements
In fact, the decision to clad the house with Dekton was driven by both these qualities and its aesthetics, which perfectly matched the design concept envisioned for the project. Once chosen, the studio could breathe a sigh of relief, as the main challenge of the work was, in their words, the overall selection of materials. Specifically, they found it challenging to balance the technical requirements with the design intent of the project.
Ultimately, the studio has confirmed that the decision was the right one in the case of Dekton, which has proven to be as easy to clean and maintain as they expected: a damp cloth is enough to sanitise it, and it doesn’t even stain with graffiti, which doesn’t adhere to its surface. Nor do the demanding weather conditions of the area affect Dekton, which withstands rain and even snow perfectly thanks to its almost non-existent porosity.
The material was so well-received by the members of Reidick that they also used it inside the house, in kitchens, bathrooms, and common areas. For the firm, this demonstrates the versatility of Dekton, allowing them to create a consistent design language across all the spaces in the home.
