The kitchen in this Bremgarten home is designed with a fluid and warm language, following the premises set for its design. “The space already had a cosy look thanks to the choice of textured oak materials and green linoleum. Therefore, we designed the worktop and the back wall with the idea of creating a sense of calm and warmth. We opted for organic shapes, and it became clear that the island had to have an elegant design with rounded edges,” explain Hüsser Innenausbau AG, the company in charge of the design.
A technical and aesthetic solution
Beyond the threshold of that initial narrative, Dekton Albarium emerges as a technical and aesthetic solution. The Dekton Albarium colour, with its off-white background and dark grey veins, offers an aesthetic similar to polished concrete but with depth and nuances that avoid a cold character. This colour features a delicate matte texture that reveals subtle reflections when light hits it, creating a visual softness effect in contrast to the wooden surfaces.
“It was a family kitchen that required a durable and easy-to-clean material without compromising design. Additionally, the client wanted a thin surface in warm tones. It had to be neither too homogeneous nor too striking, so the kitchen wouldn’t appear cold or chaotic. With the Dekton Albarium colour, we found the perfect surface that met all the requirements.”
Meanwhile, the island with rounded edge profile stands as a technical intervention that does not compromise functionality or solidity. The splashback is made of the same material, so the kitchen is clad in a single material language, avoiding abrupt visual breaks. “Dekton Albarium is a light colour that matches the floor, furniture and wood. Thanks to its subtle texture, the worktop doesn’t feel cold. The small details on the surface bring it to life. Additionally, the material is very pleasant to the touch. It conveys a warm and welcoming feeling.”
Durability and easy maintenance
One of the decisive factors for choosing Dekton was its durability and ease of maintenance. For daily use in a family kitchen, a surface was required that could withstand stains, occasional heat, liquid splashes and frequent use without degrading. Cosentino’s ultracompact surface excels precisely because it is highly resistant to stains, abrasion and thermal changes. “We have been working with Dekton for a long time, we know its properties and are convinced of its quality. Although we also use natural stone, we depend on natural colours, and natural stone is not always practical for kitchens. Dekton, on the other hand, is the best long-term solution,” explain the studio.
The project even considered a sink with an integrated edge made of the same material, creating a continuous and seamless surface. This solution reinforces the aspiration for calm and cohesion: the worktop appears polished, clean and free of visual interruptions. The decision to use Dekton Albarium for these applications demonstrates the designers’ confidence in its technical properties.
