Museum Yves Saint-Laurent
Studio KO
Marrakech, Morocco
A museum devoted to the life and work of the French fashion designer oopened in Marrakech on 19 October.

Fifty years ago, Monsieur Saint Laurent fell in love with the calm, light, and colors of the city of Marrakech. He bought a house there in which to spend long periods, getting inspiration for his designs. These sensations, so important in his work, are materially reflected in the new museum through the brick facade, the interiors in semi-darkness, and the presence of water. Hall after hall we come across many iconic YSL creations, donated by the Fondation Pierre Bergé-Yves Saint Laurent. The building also has spaces for the conservation and restoration of pieces, a library, a café, a function room, and an open-air garden. A place which invites one to rediscover Moroccan aesthetics from the particular point of view of the French genius.
