Planar House
Mk27, Marcio Kogan
Porto Feliz, Brazil
The Brazilian firm of Marcio Kogan ventures deeper into its research on horizontality with Planar House, a dwelling outside São Paulo whose roof is seen from different points of the plot as a fifth facade.

The composition of elements on it and the vegetal treatment of the rest of the surfaces work together to climatize the interior spaces. Under the large long roof, two groups of uses can be distinguished, arranged on both sides of a corridor that connects the entrance to the swimming pool and other communal zones. The first volume contains five rooms, the second a kitchen, a gym, and playrooms. The communal zones are enclosed by sliding glass walls that can be opened all the way. As for structure, the house is a single level supported by cross-shaped metallic pillars and a continuous slab of concrete that emphasizes the horizontal line of the building and allows direct views of the landscape. On the outside, a porous brick wall accompanies the orthogonal design, snaking its way with forms and convex surfaces.
