Creating material and visual continuity between the architectural design of the building and the interiors of the home, while respecting the character of the location and the quality of the selected materials, was the goal when designing this duplex located in the Jurerê ON building, in the northern part of the Brazilian island of Florianópolis. The project is signed by the Jobim Carlevaro Arquitetos studio, in collaboration with Gaico Empreendimentos and MG Superfícies.
Preserving the concrete slab
The studio's first decision was to preserve the exposed concrete slab, which stands out given the contrast it creates with the natural oak panels and the surfaces used in key areas such as the kitchen and bathrooms. The neutral palette, textures, and clean-lined furniture contribute to a minimalist yet warm aesthetic, enhanced by an open and generous layout. Preserving it was a wise choice, especially finding the best way to highlight it while complementing it with the other elements.
Faced with the potential 'rawness' of the preserved material, it seemed logical to apply colours and finishes that would create a harmonious and elegant contrast. Thus, the studio chose to use Dekton Aura in the kitchen worktops and also in the vertical cladding of the wall supporting the staircase, with thicknesses of 8 and 12 mm. The white veining with soft grey streaks adds brightness and understated elegance, perfectly integrating with the rest of the finishes.
Preserving privacy
The design maximises natural light and views of the exterior. The double-height living room visually connects with the mezzanine where the master suite is located, separated by grey glass panels that preserve privacy without disrupting spatial continuity. This arrangement creates a perfect frame for enjoying the landscape and reinforces the idea of openness, in harmony with Jurerê's natural surroundings and the building's architecture.
It is in these more private spaces where we find the second contribution from Cosentino, specifically in the guest bathroom, where Dekton Domoos, in a dark matte tone, is used on the worktop and sink to create a subtle contrast with the light wood.
