The Bungalow5 Studio project reimagines an existing kitchen in a traditional home located in Sealand (Denmark), where influencer and designer Allan Torp carried out an intervention focused on updating the surfaces without altering the essence of the space. Completed in autumn 2025, the renovation introduces Dekton Avorio as the worktop and splashback, a material chosen for its durability, ease of maintenance, and aesthetic suitability to the original architecture of the house, built in 1939.
A combination of different eras
The starting point of the project was the combination of the new surface with a 1988 kitchen that remains in use. As the designer explains, “the combination of the new worktop and the old 1988 kitchen” is one of the most interesting features of the result. He adds that “the shape of the handles has a touch reminiscent of Alvar Aalto, which perfectly complements the look of the Dekton Avorio worktop.”
Torp chose Dekton because it offers a wide variety of colours and designs, allowing him to find a finish suitable for a historic home located in the Danish countryside. Dekton Avorio, in particular, helps integrate the kitchen into the style of the house. The designer also notes that the material's durability and ease of cleaning provide peace of mind in daily use, avoiding common concerns with natural surfaces like marble. Among the material's advantages, Torp highlights its durability, low maintenance, and affinity with the overall style of the space.
A colour that blends into the whole
Regarding the choice of colour, Torp mentions that he initially considered grey but ultimately decided on Avorio because it captures the warm tones of the original wooden floor, adding more warmth to the kitchen. A kitchen with simple lines, light-toned fronts, wooden handles, and wooden floors. Stainless steel taps, a large window, and everyday details on the worktop —such as cookbooks or utensils— complete a functional and bright atmosphere.
