In the NS House project, located in Bandung (Indonesia), the Presisi Interior studio has designed a kitchen that not only aims to please the eye but also to enhance the daily lives of its residents with beauty, durability, and functionality. The centrepiece of the design is a large central island, seamlessly integrated into the overall layout and also incorporating the dining area, becoming the true meeting point of the home.
The kitchen, the standout feature
“The kitchen is the standout feature of the project, not merely as a decorative element but as a space that visually and functionally connects the entire house,” explain the studio. The homeowners, passionate about cooking and intensive use of the space, needed a surface that could withstand the test of time, daily use, and constant activity without losing its appeal. The entire kitchen is finished in wood, with aluminium appliances and a backsplash of vertical white tiles.
The choice of Dekton Nayla met this dual requirement: on one hand, its light and warm tone perfectly complements the minimalist and bright aesthetic the clients desired; on the other, its resistance to scratches, stains, and heat makes it a reliable solution for an active kitchen. “We were looking for a surface that was not only beautiful but also practical and easy to maintain. Dekton Nayla met both criteria,” say Presisi.
Light tones and wood: the keys to minimalism
Dekton Nayla has been applied to both the worktop and the island, providing visual continuity and coherence to the overall design. The central island also features a wooden bar at a different level, expanding the workspace and interaction area, while also serving as a more informal dining space.
The result is a clean and serene space that neither overwhelms nor feels cluttered, naturally adapting to daily routines. The homeowners particularly highlight the balance between aesthetics and functionality: “We chose this tone because we wanted a clean, bright, and minimalist aesthetic. Since it is present in almost the entire kitchen, it was important that it did not feel visually dominant or overwhelming.” They also appreciate that the material remains flawless with daily use and is easy to clean.
