In the main bathroom of a home in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the Egea Arquitectos studio, led by Eduardo Egea and José Javier Cullen, has created a space where the natural stone Scalea Lilac by Cosentino defines the aesthetic and sensory tone. Used both in the shower and the washbasin, this Turkish-origin stone combines a pristine white background with a prominent central vein, from which branches in purple and brown tones emerge. The result is a serene atmosphere, with an organic contrast that enhances the visual identity of the project.
According to the architects, “the project seeks a serene chromatic continuity, where materials like Lilac marble introduce a subtle contrast without disrupting the spatial flow or the atmospheric coherence that define our architectural language.” This pursuit of chromatic and material balance translates into a bathroom that conveys calm and visual order.
Technical advantages of Scalea Lilac
The decision to work with Cosentino is based on both aesthetic and technical criteria. “We chose Cosentino materials for their proven technical quality, durability, and resistance, combined with a refined aesthetic and clean textures that perfectly align with the attention to detail that characterises our projects,” state Egea Arquitectos.
In this case, the natural stone Scalea Lilac offers essential functional advantages that were carefully considered. “We used Cosentino materials in this application for their exceptional durability and resistance to moisture, allowing us to achieve a refined, low-maintenance surface that enhances the clean and continuous aesthetic of the bathroom,” they point out.
An aesthetic with strong presence
The client also played a decisive role in the choice of material and tones. “We chose violet and cream tones for their emotional warmth and subtle sophistication, creating a space that feels serene yet distinctive, without disrupting the tranquil atmosphere of the home,” they explain. This colour palette provides an enveloping and natural sensation, reinforced by the soft texture of the marble.
In addition to the visual impact, the use of large formats reduces visible joints, creating a continuous surface that enhances the sense of spaciousness. “The tactile softness, high durability, and large-scale format ensure a clean and uniform finish.”
The combination of a measured chromatic composition, the nobility of marble, and the technical properties of Scalea by Cosentino creates a space where material and light interact harmoniously. A bathroom designed as a place of contemplation, calm, and conscious design.
