The starting point in this house was the kitchen. From the outset, the DSD Design studio knew that this space would set the aesthetic and material narrative for the rest of the home. “The chosen surface inspired the design direction for the rest of the house,” they explain. This initial gesture influenced the choice of tones, light, and textures that shape the 100 square metres of the project.
Sculptural presence and technical performance
The studio was very clear about the need to work with a material capable of combining sculptural presence and advanced technical performance. “At DSD Design, we always look for materials that combine luxury aesthetics and durability,” they state. In this comparative process, the choice was immediate. “Cosentino's Dekton range stood out for its cutting-edge design, superior performance, and timeless appeal.” Within the collection, Dekton Khalo offered exactly the sought-after aesthetic: “The Dekton Khalo surface provided a natural stone look with consistent quality, perfect for a space designed to be both highly exclusive and highly functional.”
Once installed on worktops, splashbacks, and the large central island, the material reaffirmed its architectural sense. The technical qualities were decisive: “Heat resistance, scratch resistance, and easy maintenance made Dekton the ideal choice for a heavily used family kitchen.”
But the studio also highlights its visual behaviour, essential for the atmosphere they wanted to achieve. “Beyond its functionality, the surface beautifully reflects light and adds depth and warmth to the overall palette.” The continuity between horizontal and vertical planes allowed the ensemble to acquire a unified character: “Its seamless integration on worktops, splashbacks, and island surfaces helped create a cohesive and fluid architectural statement.”
From that surface, the rest of the project took shape. “We transferred the earthy tones and soft golden accents of the Dekton Khalo surface to the lighting, carpentry, and flooring selection, creating a sense of harmony and flow throughout the house.” This colour coherence guided by Dekton established a longitudinal identity in the home. As the studio summarises: “The greatest benefit is the combination of beauty and performance. Dekton surfaces allow us to achieve a luxurious aesthetic without compromising practicality.”
Dekton creating continuity in other spaces
In the bathroom, Dekton Ceppo is used for the worktop and the front of the sink, providing a stony, cool, and dense texture that contrasts with the dark cladding of the main wall. The solid volume of the sink, executed in a single piece with straight lines and a defined edge, adds a sculptural presence reinforced by the indirect lighting of the mirror.
The visual impact of Dekton Radium on the platform under the staircase also stands out: a dark plane with industrial nuances and a metallic patina surface that adds depth and drama to the core of the space. The visible texture creates a marked contrast with the glass and the light structure of the steps. The same finish is used on the kitchen hood, providing a sober counterbalance to the dynamic colours of Khalo.
