Cosentino Signs Grant Agreement for CTQuarry Project, Selected by the EU Innovation Fund


Almeria, Spain – March 13, 2025 – Cosentino, global leader company in the production and distribution of innovative surfaces for architecture and design, is proud to announce that has signed the Grant Agreement for its CTQuarry project. This project has been selected as one of the 77 cutting-edge decarbonisation projects for EU’s clean energy transition selected by the EU Innovation Fund. Cosentino is the only Spanish company with a medium-scale project in present call.

CTQuarry project represents a significant advancement in Cosentino's commitment to innovation, circular economy, and sustainability. With an estimated total investment of €90 million, the main goal of CTQuarry is to build a pioneering industrial-scale plant, that will be dedicated to producing circular, sustainable, and safe materials for the construction, glass, and ceramics sectors in the EU.

Innovation and Sustainability at the heart of the project

CTQuarry aims not only to enhance Cosentino's competitiveness in the global sector but also to address environmental challenges and raw material costs. The plant will utilize advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, data management, automation, and industrial robotics, positioning Cosentino at the forefront of efficiency and sustainability.

This project marks an important step in Cosentino's transversal innovation strategy, which integrates sustainability into all aspects of its operation. Over the past five years, Cosentino has invested more than €100 million in R&D, consolidating its leadership in the sector and its commitment to more efficient and responsible production.

Cosentino announced this project last November at a press conference held at Cosentino City Madrid, attended by Álvaro de la Haza, Cosentino EVP; Valentín Tijeras, VP of Innovation and Product; and Álvaro Sánchez-Apellaniz, Chief Strategy & Data Officer. During the conference, Tijeras emphasized the project's significance, defining it as "the biggest leap forward for the sector globally in more than a decade."
