Designing a contemporary space without compromising warmth was the starting point for Brazilian architect Carol Scarpelli, the creator of one of the most striking residences in São José dos Campos. Located in a lush natural setting, the home is conceived as “a true oasis of sophistication and warmth, where every element was carefully selected to create a unique atmosphere,” explains the architect.
The project, designed for a family that enjoys both indoor and outdoor living, includes a spa, gym, games room, and a spacious garden, as well as an underground wine cellar that Scarpelli describes as “an exclusive retreat, ideal for wine lovers and perfect for gatherings with friends.”
Dekton: elegance that withstands the test of time
In high-use areas, Dekton takes centre stage thanks to its durability, contemporary aesthetics, and ability to integrate with other natural materials. For the worktop and island in the gourmet area, the architect chose Dekton Kovik in 12 mm slabs for its versatility and colour harmony. Its smooth texture and greyish tone provide a neutral base that complements the rest of the interior design while offering the durability and resistance needed for a space of constant interaction and meal preparation.
The flooring, stairs, and lift were clad with Dekton Entzo. Its white base with golden veins adds brightness and a sense of visual continuity, ideal for high-traffic areas. “The walls, adorned with natural stone, bring a rustic touch that harmoniously contrasts with the Dekton surfaces, creating an intimate and welcoming atmosphere,” adds Scarpelli. This combination of mineral texture and ultra-compact surface achieves a balance between elegance and naturalness, two key pillars of the project.
In the kitchen, Dekton Opera (with delicate light grey veins on a creamy white background) enhances the sophisticated character of the space. Its heat resistance and easy maintenance make it a practical surface for everyday use, but also ideal for those who enjoy the kitchen as a social space. “Spacious kitchens clad in Dekton are designed to facilitate interaction during gatherings, allowing hosts to connect with guests while preparing delicious meals,” says the architect.
Silestone: serenity and beauty in intimate spaces
The private and relaxation areas required a different kind of atmosphere, more serene and tactile. Here, Silestone was chosen for its warm texture, timeless elegance, and high performance.
In the bathrooms, Silestone Nolita combines soft white and grey tones that convey a sense of calm and modernity. The matte finish transforms these spaces into places of relaxation and well-being.
Meanwhile, Silestone Eternal Serena adorns the worktop and bathtub in the living room, providing visual continuity and a touch of understated luxury. “The use of a neutral colour palette, combined with the worktops and flooring, harmonises with the texture of natural stone, creating a sophisticated and welcoming space,” explains Scarpelli.
The carefully designed lighting enhances the materiality of the cladding. “Soft and strategic lighting highlights the rustic character of the stone walls, creating the perfect atmosphere for long conversations and celebrations around the table,” she adds.
A home designed for sharing
Beyond its aesthetics, the residence designed by Carol Scarpelli reflects a lifestyle where functionality and well-being coexist with elegance. Each space has been designed to encourage gathering and shared enjoyment, both indoors and outdoors.
“This project embodies a home that not only reflects the elegance and refined taste of its residents but also celebrates the bond between friends and family, becoming a space where every detail tells a story and every gathering becomes an unforgettable memory,” concludes the architect.
The result is a contemporary and warm residence, where Dekton and Silestone surfaces by Cosentino not only bring beauty but also functionality, durability, and material coherence. A home designed to withstand the test of time while celebrating the present.
