Tennis superstar Rafael Nadal and Cosentino Co-Host Fall Collection Preview in New York City

Ahead of his bid at the U.S. Open, the tennis champion and Dekton brand ambassador attended a cocktail party at the Cosentino Manhattan City Center to unveil the Dekton Industrial Series.

On Tuesday evening in New York City after appearances at the Masters 1000 in Montreal and Cincinnati and just days ahead of the U.S. Open, the world’s number-one ranked tennis star and Dekton spokesperson Rafael Nadal made an appearance at an exclusive cocktail event at the Cosentino Manhattan City Center to help unveil a new collection, the Dekton® Industrial Series. Designed in collaboration with leading architect and designer Daniel Germani, the mold-breaking range of Dekton colors will officially launch in September 2017.

Nadal celebrated the preview alongside 100 of New York’s leading architects and designers, who enjoyed welcoming remarks from the tennis phenom, a meet-and-greet, cocktails, and more. To commemorate the evening, Nadal signed a slab of Dekton Trilium—his favorite color from the collection—which will remain on permanent display in the showroom.

Known throughout the tennis world as “The King of Clay,” Nadal has been the brand ambassador for Dekton since 2014 and knows firsthand the importance of surface both in sport and design. His Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar, a world-class training facility sponsored by Cosentino opened last Fall in his hometown of Manacor, Spain, and boasts more than 430,000 square feet inside and out of Dekton, an ultra-compact, ultra-durable architectural surface manufactured by the Spain-based company. “When I was working with the architects who designed the Academy, I was incredibly drawn to both the strength and design of Dekton Trilium, the color that inspired the new Industrial Collection,” Nadal says. “It beautifully captures weathered and worn metal, but with unparalleled performance. I love how it looks in the Academy’s spas, and I am thrilled to join my friends from Cosentino to celebrate this exciting debut of the Industrial Series. I’m already envisioning it in future projects!” In addition to partnering with Nadal on his tennis academy, Cosentino recently collaborated with the tennis star on the design of his other passion, Tatel Restaurants based in Madrid, Ibiza and Miami, of which he is a co-owner alongside music sensation Enrique Iglesias and pro basketball player Pau Gasol of the San Antonio Spurs.

Among the guests in attendance were members of Cosentino’s executive leadership, including Santiago Alfonso, Vice President of Marketing and Communication for Cosentino Group; Massimo Ballucchi, Director of Marketing for Cosentino North America; Brandon Calvo, Vice President of Sales for Cosentino North America; Patty Dominguez, Vice President of Architecture and Design Sales for Cosentino North America, and Ana Granados, General Manager of the Cosentino Manhattan City Center. Other notable attendees included prominent New York-based architects, designers and industry professionals, as well as editors from top-tier luxury, design and shelter publications.
