Recently our 2015 Trendspotters took to the stage at KBIS with Carisha Swanson of Hearst Design Group to discuss the process behind the development of their two new Influencer Series colors, Etchings Ink and Aquatint.
All six of the Trendspotters saw opportunities for the unique aesthetic of Etchings in their home markets, despite their regional differences. The graphic prints of Ink and Aquatint brought different inspiration, depending on the designer.
“There’s something very mod about Etchings—and as so much of design is cyclical, Etchings captures the mid-century modern appeal of Terrazzo, which was popular across the market, but puts a modern spin on it in today’s design environment, challenging designers to incorporate a more bold surface into a space’s palette.” – Drew McGukin
“I’m inspired by how adventurous my clients are—they’re embracing bold patterns and hues—there hasn’t been anything in this realm like Etchings for quite some time, and people are ready for it.” – Theresa Casey
“While many think that my Dallas market means ‘traditional’, I find my clients more willing to step outside of this standard and appreciate that my guidance helps them be more fashion forward. For example: Crackled black subway tile, with lacquered cabinets.” – Denise McGaha
