Years in the making

My journey into interior design came about very organically since I was only 14 years old. I started working as a builder, which gave me robust exposure to working with architects and designers in the San Francisco area.

I had an affinity for things that worked beautifully, which is why I started to focus more on the design side of the business. My building backgound helps me understand what it takes to put together a project from the ground up. I am able to get into the intricacies of the design because of my engineering background, which I gives me a unique edge.

My first project

My first big project as a designer was a full kitchen remodel. It’s still up on my website as a benchmark project and I am filled with pride every time I look at it. It’s very special to me because I came at it from a design perspective, and was hired as such.

The project garnered many awards and accolares both on a local and national level.

Unique projects with a signature touch

Every project is unique, yet people can look at my work and recognize it. I don’t like to follow any set of rules or fall victim to trends. I have creativity in my DNA - my father is an art dealer and growing up in Mexico I was always immersed in colors, textures, and a very rich culture.

I introduce eclectic elements into my projects, greatly inspired by my travels to over 30 countries in Europe, North Africa, and more.

New experiences gets submerged into my consciousness and manifests itself in different ways. I focus on quality and intention in every single thing I do. It is not just about making it pretty, it needs to perform.

A transformative trip to Spain

I had the opportunity to go to the Cosentino factory in Spain and was fortunate enough to be one of the first to see Dekton before it hit the market.

By looking and it and touching it, I knew it was a gamechanger. It was one of those pivotal moments where I got very excited about a product.

New products come out all the time, but never quite as forward-thinking as Dekton.

My favorite project

I use Cosentino materials in every project and every new project is my favorite on. I put so much love and effort into each one, but once it gets delivered to the client I need to detach.

Dekton, everywhere

Surfaces is a big word now, especially with quartz and materials like Dekton. We used to only think of countertops, but I’ve put Dekton everywhere, I’m walking fireplaces, walls, flooring, outdoors, furniture, and more.

I also enjoy Dekton’s ability to create a unified indoor/outdoor expression.

Quality is key in sustainability

Sustainability is extremely important, especially working in California everything has some level of sustainability.

One of the best things you can do as a designer is build high quality and not get too caught up on the trends. None of my designers are trendy or what’s hot right now. The better you build and the higher quality material you use, the longer the space will last, leading to less materials in landfills.

Technology-filled spaces

I’m excited to continue seeing technology making its way into our spaces. There is a lot brewing in terms of communication tech, lighting tech, elements changing colors, and more. I am eager to continue creating immersive designs.
