Cosentino Showcases Unlimited Architectural Applications of Dekton at 2018 AIA National Conference

Cosentino, the global leader in the production and distribution of innovative surfaces for design and architecture, showcased the myriad of applications of its Dekton ultra-compact surfacing and newest Silestone offerings at the AIA National Convention, held at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City June 21-23, drawing more than 23,000 attendees.

While the booth showcased luminary colors from both ultra-compact Dekton and Silestone, the world’s leading brand in the quartz surface category, the booth’s design was created to inspire architects and designers alike on the unlimited uses of Dekton. “Dekton has received tremendous recognition for its innovative color and design, but what’s equally important is how it empowers architects to rethink their approach to surfacing in residential, commercial, and hospitality applications,” says Massimo Ballucchi, Marketing Director of Cosentino North America.

In addition to highlighting Dekton’s flooring and ventilated façade applications, Cosentino channeled the design aesthetic of New York by showcasing three newly completed commercial projects that specified Dekton: LUMA Hotel Times Square by Peter Poon Architects New York; Riverside Square Mall by JP2 Architects; and Armonk Professional Center by Simonian Rosenbaum Architecture. “New York is synonymous with innovative design and architecture, and as more professionals in the A+D space become familiar with Dekton, this ultra-durable material is becoming a larger part of its landscape. We hope this encourages AIA attendees to go see these incredible applications in person.”

The Cosentino booth included the newest color launch from Silestone Eternal Collection—the first in Silestone’s offering to have veining and highlights run completely through the material, including its edges, resulting in an even more natural appearance. Each of the 11 colors pays homage to the most sought-after exotic marbles and stones, coupled with the latest technological advancements only Silestone can offer.

Dekton® is an innovative, ultra-compact surface with technical properties and performance capabilities that make it an ideal surfacing solution for interior and exterior hospitality environments. Dekton offers superior strength, high resistance to impact, scratches and abrasion for high-traffic areas, UV and thermal shock resistance, and very low water absorption. These unique characteristics permit Dekton to be used in multiple architectural applications, including countertops, flooring, wall cladding, building façades, decking and more.

“The annual AIA Conference on Architecture is a significant industry event and we look forward to connecting with architects to discuss the versatility of Dekton, and how it can be used in their projects,” says Eduardo Cosentino, CEO of Cosentino North America and EVP Global Sales Cosentino Group. “Exhibiting the beautiful aesthetics of our products is equally important as demonstrating the various application and installation opportunities they offer architects.”
