As a leading global design authority, Architectural Digest celebrates the very best of international design and innovative products in its magazine each month. To further elevate distinctive products in an increasingly crowded space, AD holds its annual AD Great Design Awards, curated with the publication’s tastemakers, influencers and design enthusiasts in mind. Among the 2018 winners: Dekton Orix – a luminary from the new Industrial Collection with seven color ways that put rough, unexpected materials such as cement back at the forefront of design. Equally striking and dramatic, Orix mimics the industrial appearance of eroded cement: steely, cold and broken. Drawing inspiration from the award-winning Dekton Trilium, leading architect and designer Daniel Germani envisioned six new designs for the Dekton Industrial Collection that capture the organic texture and essenese of weather-worn stone and aged metals.

“The Industrial Collection celebrates the beauty of metals and cement as they transform over time,”Germani says. “Imperfections caused by oxidation and natural degradation create unique colors that capture the richness and depth of organic processes. It was only through the incomparable technology of Dekton that we were able to explore these processes and subsequently create these designs.”

Dekton Orix and its fellow AD Great Design Winners from the kitchen category will be featured in the November 2018 issue of Architectural Digest, with expanded coverage online and across the Architectural Digest social media platforms. Winners in the bath category will be announced in the spring.
