Last week, Silestone (www.silestoneusa.com), a world leader in natural quartz surfacing, sponsored the city Modern’s Emerging Designers Panel Discussion, in partnership with New York Magazine and Dwell at the Museum of Arts & Design in New York City.

New York Design Editor, Wendy Goodman led the panel of truly inspiring design stories from five leaders in the design industry including Jerry Helling, President and Creative Director of Bernhardt Design; Taylor Pemberton, a New York-based designer and entrepreneur, founder of Cavalier, and Creative Director of Wantful.com; Scottish artist/designer Jephson Robb; and the design duo behind Raleigh Denim Sarah Lytvinenko and Victor Lytvinenko, who also participated in Helling’s ‘America Made Me’ design show during ICFF last May.

Hand selected by Helling, who’s known for his keen ability to recognize budding talent, the panelists discussed challenges that emerging designers face in the fashion, graphic design and furniture design worlds, along with a peek into how each of the designers found success. Following the panel discussion attendees had a chance to mingle with the panel and continue the conversation in the dazzling lobby of the museum that sits across from Columbus Circle.

City Modern was co-created by the Dwell and New York editorial teams and led by Amanda Dameron and Wendy Goodman to celebrate design in all facets of the industry, from fashion to furniture.
