This just in from the Chicago Tribune: the latest in kitchen design trends is the concept of “kitchen camouflage.” The idea is rooted in homeowners and designers increasingly looking for ways to disguise kitchen equipment, cabinetry, countertops, flooring and accessories.
And no trends story would be complete without insight from our Silestone Trendspotters. Here is a quote from the article, featuring Julia Buckingham Edelmann:
“But the visibly invisible style is showing up more now – first in Europe where many kitchen trends get started, then with manufacturers adapting equipment and cabinetry to keep them from view at times, and finally by designers who see its wisdom and expose clients to its advantages. With more homeowners wanting to live in open, loft-style spaces, the invisible kitchen keeps everything looking neat when cooking and clean-up aren’t going on. … Julia Buckingham Edelmann of Buckingham Interiors + Design agrees that homeowners gravitate to it as a way to streamline kitchen aesthetics and functionality.”
