Thanks to its extensive Atlantic coastline, Portugal is the perfect country for those looking for a secluded place near the sea. One of these wonders is the picturesque area of Caxinas, in the municipality of Vila do Conde, where a recent architectural project redefines contemporary elegance based on respect for the environment: Pearl Sea. Located just a few steps from the sea, this residential development features clean lines and a style that blends seamlessly with the coastal environment.
DKTN Edora, Cosentino’s ultra-compact and highly resistant surface, has been used to create the distinctive façade of Pearl Sea. This material lends a high-end aesthetic to the final result, and its neutral tone adapts perfectly to both classic styles and avant-garde projects. Edmundo* architecture + planning, the architecture studio responsible for the design, explains the choice: “The nobility of the material guarantees the sophistication and quality of the building, conveying values of durability, resistance, comfort and luxury”.
DKTN Edora is integrated into the building, creating a minimalist aesthetic whose versatility allows for the interplay of different shades, facilitating the incorporation of decorative elements that enhance the beauty of the space. The resistance and durability of this material are fundamental, especially given its proximity to the sea, and offer a solution that is both practical and aesthetically pleasing.
Respect for the environment through materials
The Pearl Sea project was born out of the challenge to create a multi-family building with a contemporary, luxurious and sophisticated approach that would not compete with the unique and special landscape of Caxinas. “The most important thing was to understand the identity of the place and what it means to design a new building in an area with unique characteristics due to its roots,” share the architects. Inspired by the pearl, the design of Pearl Sea embodies this concept, which the architects explain as follows: “The idea of the pearl inside the shell, which opens up when it feels comfortable, is reflected in the design of several overlapping shells, creating an environment that opens up to the sea and offers comfort to its inhabitants”.
Pearl Sea is a perfect fusion of modernity and respect for the environment. From its form to the materials used, the building has been designed to complement, rather than dominate, the existing landscape. This thoughtful and environmentally friendly approach, along with the community feel of Caxinas, is what makes Pearl Sea more than just a new residential development.
