The residence has two parts. One is on the ground floor of an apartment building, and the other within the inner courtyard of an urban block. The courtyard becomes a garden providing a visually pleasing enclave and a reasonable degree of privacy.

The entrance area is turned away from the street, focused on the courtyard garden. The exterior part engages with the garden very openly, with sliding shutters regulating the amount of privacy and natural light, as desired.

The two parts of the dwelling are thought out as a single construction with a swimming pool acting as a bridge connecting both areas.

Each part can function on its own but complements the other, and the garden connection becomes an outdoor living room of sorts. A friend of the owner wondered how she would go from one to the other in winter. The reply: "Swimming"!
