At home in Porsgunn, Mads Clemmetsen, known as @madspusseropp, has created his dream home with his wife Helene. However, the couple did not agree on which design from Cosentino should be the jewl the large kitchen. “When we stand and cook here, it's like standing on a stage. Just like a DJ who stands and creates a good atmosphere for his guests,” Mads talks about the kitchen he has designed himself.
Mads is a trained electrician and a self-proclaimed handyman. He shares renovation tips daily on social media, where he has a large and engaged followers. In addition, Mads has taken part in television programmes, and his popularity has also led to Mads giving lectures with many craft tips for both young people and adults.
In his own kitchen, it is Dekton from Cosentino that has come through the eye of the needle in his demands for quality, aesthetics and functionality.
Sustainability, quality and effective details
The kitchen is from Schmidt Kjøkken, which, like Cosentino, has sustainability and quality as core values. With wood from sustainable forestry and a carbon-neutral countertop, Mads and Helene have an environmentally conscious kitchen made of materials that can withstand regular use for many years to come. The color Entzo from Dekton harmonizes perfectly with the color of the wood.
“The kitchen oozes quality and all in all, this is a kitchen that will last a long time. The worktop from Cosentino completes the expression in the kitchen, not only in terms of appearance, but just as much quality and strength. Schmidt Kjøkken has come up with good solutions throughout, such as mixing two colors to get the perfect tone,” says Mads.
Effective collaboration
The actual measurement, cutting and installation of the countertops from Dekton was done by Sigvartsen Steinindustri. In collaboration with Mads, who sees creative solutions in everything, not a single detail is accidental.
“It was Sigvartsen Steinindustri who introduced me to the slabs from Cosentino. Together we created the shape and the effects I wanted. For example, I wanted to create a whole by making a 7 cm edge around the entire countertop with hidden light that gives a nice effect,” says Mads.
He has also placed a strip of light under the entire front, so that the kitchen looks like a floating island. The idea he has Mads taken from his own head, and not seen that variant anywhere else before.
Good solution for both
Helene had Dekton Arga as her favorite for the kitchen, but Mads disagreed. He was determined that the large worktop that takes a lot of attention in the house must be matte. On the other hand, Helene got her wish fulfilled by getting Dekton Arga in the bathroom instead.
“It was the best solution. We both think that the bathroom has become very elegant with Dekton Arga. It had become too much in such a large kitchen, which has a very central place in the house,” says Mads.
Mads is good at seeing opportunities, and when there was still a cut from the worktop in the bathroom, Mads made a lovely table that has found a place in the livingroom.
“I got exactly the place I wanted. The dream kitchen has come true that I had envisioned in my weird but creative head. With only an opening on one side, we got a little more closed space, so it feels like I'm standing in a room and cooking, while it's completely open all around. That was the whole feeling I wanted,” says Mads.
