From the washbasin to the walls, the fireplace, the flooring, the shower trays… Everything in this house in Murcia features Cosentino surfaces. According to its designer, María Conesa: “The complete renovation of this Mediterranean style villa has been carried out entirely with a range of DKTN surfaces”.
“For the day area, we wanted to integrate the outdoors with the indoors, as this is how people spend most of the year in this warm weather region. As for the rest of the villa, we indulged in a few luxuries. In general, we looked for materials that would be durable both technically and in terms of design; we wanted them to remain flawless, but also to be elegant now and in 15 years’ time. We therefore used DKTN for floors, claddings, worktops, washbasins, shower trays, fireplace… We could say that what we have here is a total Cosentino look”, she says with a laugh.
In this sense, the elegant DKTN Rem, a surface inspired by Calacatta white marble, dominates the barbecue area, the living room and the kitchen. Meanwhile, DKTN Arga, a shade inspired by Taj Mahal quartzite, which recreates the luxury of natural stone with a hyper-realistic graphic and dazzling sheen, is the dominant colour in the guest WC. In the guest bathroom, the golden veins of DKTN Laurent dominate the space, while in the master bathroom, the white and grey shades combine perfectly with the delicate crackle of DKTN Helena.
DKTN, a “resistant, beautiful and pleasant to the touch” stone
There were many factors that led Conesa to choose this ultra-compact stone: “It is resistant, beautiful and pleasant to the touch. It is very convenient to have these surfaces at home: they are designed to be lived in and enjoyed”, she says. “We were looking for a relaxed luxury that would last for years in perfect condition and still look as beautiful as it does now. We are very pleased with the result”.
DKTN’s ease of cleaning was also a determining factor in its choice: “It is very easy to clean and maintain, which is no surprise: I was lucky enough to visit the headquarters, research centre and factory in Almería and realised how much technology there is behind these seemingly simple products”, says the interior designer.
End-to-end support
The relationship with the company was also key: “Cosentino has a network of professionals who provide excellent advice: Rafa and Amador were very responsive and attentive at all times. They visited the site many times and their advice was essential for the fitters. The follow-up throughout the process was wonderful. Some of the pieces were delivered on site, while others were sent to the fabricator for cutting. Communication between the three parties involved was fluid, continuous and optimal. In addition, Mármoles Torre Pacheco was very professional in the handling of the product”.
In fact, according to Conesa, even things that seemed more complicated, such as the use of large-format slabs for the fireplace, the kitchen island and the barbecue island, were easily solved. “I like working with the best, and in Spain we have the best. Cosentino is a benchmark here and around the world. At no point did I compare its products with other materials: I already knew them from other projects and I bet on the winning horse”, the professional says finally.
