Lara House
HANGHAR
Madrid, Spain
The apartment refrains from adopting a pre-set layout, instead organizing itself in four rooms visually and spatially connected by large centered openings
This renovation of a 65 m2 flat dating back to he 1960s, in Madrid, goes against the rapid tide of speculation in real estate that the city has suffered in the past decade, opting for a flexible system of the kind that resists pre-set and conventional arrangements. A new system – indifferent to and independent of its context – that annuls any relationship with the perimeter, program, and orientation of the space.
The materials are simple and direct, and they use their inherent characteristics to generate different sensations. The immaculate white walls and ceilings and red linoleum floor enhance the generic character of the rooms; a generic-ness altered only by the stainless-steel kitchen fixtures and the fireplace at one of the apartment’s diagonal corners.
