Lawrence Wine Estates operated seven premium wineries with hundreds of acres of vineyards in Napa Valley, California. When designing the company’s executive offices, designer Andrea Halkovich of Sonoma Interiors sought to honor the legacy of Napa Valley, which has embodied a pioneering spirit and understated luxury for over a century. To achieve this, the designer highlighted the diversity of the valley through a combination of art and biophilic elements from the client’s properties, including an 80-year old vine in the reception area salvaged from their Stony Hill estate. This project involved the complete renovation of a 380-square-meters office suite to accommodate 24 employees.
The color and material selection was inspired by the layers of sediment in soil, which harken the layers within their organization. The white oak in the general offices represent the topsoil, like in vineyards, abuzz with activity. The next sublayer of soil is darker, supporting the roots and preserving the vine. Similarly, the executive offices are neutral but with darker tones. The deepest layer of soil is the foundation from which everything flourishes. The CEO’s palette is rich and moody and the vines became a symbolic visual that enforces the concept throughout.
The journey begins at the entry where the stunning DKTN Laurent provides a dramatic background for the company signage. “Upon seeing Laurent at the Cosentino City San Francisco, I likened its heavy veining with the roots of grapevines and knew it was the absolute perfect element to begin telling my client’s story,” shared Andrea.
Another exciting space is the outdoor patio, which Andrea transformed into a relaxing environment in true wine country style. Beyond the community table crafted of salvaged wood lies a three meter kitchen bathed in DKTN Daze. DKTN was a critical material selection, not only for its beauty, but its heat and UV ray resistant qualities that serve as protection against the elements.
“DKTN is a material I can feel good about specifying. With so many different colors, finishes, and thicknesses there is something for every design style and application - even outdoors!” said the designer.
Cosentino is proud to have played a part in this amazing project, which won the 2023 Design Excellence Award which is awarded by the ASID California Peninsula Chapter, earning Gold for Commercial Space.
