Rigorous research into Mediterranean ideals, in combination with the ‘less but better’ philosophy, was the cornerstone of this project

The Balearic aesthetic that Casa Neutrale pursues translates architecturally into a welcoming vernacular space in the heart of Madrid. Light Mediterranean shades were obtained with ceramic and sustainable mortar, striking a contrast with the bar of honed granite on which the establishment’s specialty coffee and avant-garde gastronomy – the project’s main protagonists – are prepared.

Of ceramic is a banquette where customers savor the fare. It stretches along one side of the space, accompanied by designer creations supplied by the furniture manufacturer Ondarreta. And of ceramic, too, is the low block that separates the bar from the tasting area, a barrier incorporating a planter. A third sittable tiled element is the bench placed flush with the inside of the facade, from which clients can look out to the street.
