An oasis of calm in light, neutral tones. This could be the definition of the functional and minimalist kitchen designed by Malaysian one letter J studio for this home in Eco Ardence, a sustainable private residential development where art, culture and commerce mix with residential use.
Plant fibres, fabrics and wood are combined in this carefully designed room where the textures used add an extra touch of interest and sensoriality, making the space pleasant and welcoming. Accordingly, the studio chose Dekton Tk06 Marmorio – a stone inspired by the iconic Travertino Navona and with a striking materiality – for the kitchen and island worktops, as well as the adjacent table, laundry and office areas. This natural marble, quarried near Tivoli, east of Rome, is the inspiration for the Dekton pattern, a porous, light coloured striped structure that gives the space an elegant, bright and lightweight character.
Ancient beauty meets the technology of the future
This colour is part of the Pietra Kode collection designed by architect and designer Daniel Germani, a collection that decodes ancient Italian stones through innovative parameters in terms of strength, durability and sustainability.
“The characteristics of Dekton, such as its remarkable resistance to heat, scratches and stains, make it an ideal choice for kitchen spaces. We also appreciate that Dekton does not only fulfil its functional purpose, but also enhances the overall design of the kitchen thanks to its beautiful appearance”, says the studio. “Its unique aesthetic, similar to that of high quality natural stone, adds a touch of elegance to the space. And most importantly, it does so without the typical maintenance challenges associated with natural stone.”
In fact, Dekton is very easy to clean – all you need is a damp cloth – and, thanks to its almost zero porosity, it resists all kinds of stains, even those caused by acids. In addition, its exceptional properties allow you to cut on the surface without the need for a chopping board and without the risk of damaging it, as it is resistant to knocks, impacts and fire. In this way, the surface brings all the classic beauty of Travertine stone while at the same time offering unparalleled ease of use.
“An enriching experience”
“Choosing the right kitchen worktop and splashback involves finding a subtle balance between design and functionality. The kitchen is the heart of every home, the place where we prepare meals, share stories and create lasting memories. Despite its key role, choosing the right worktop and splashback can be a daunting task,” says the studio. And they continue: “Working with Cosentino materials has been an enriching experience. Its combination of durability, aesthetics and ease of maintenance has not only made our projects easier, but has also improved the quality and durability of the finished spaces”.
