In the kitchen, the interior designer decided to create a relaxed and natural atmosphere that would establish a dialogue with the light through the materials used. For this purpose, she chose Silestone by Cosentino, which was used for the worktops, the splashback and the top and side of the peninsula. “I have found that designing minimalist interiors is actually much more difficult than designing more elaborate spaces with lots of different finishes and details”, says the designer, whose eclectic style, with touches of colour, makes its mark on this contemporary and welcoming space.

“The aim was to create an ‘eco-chic living space inspired by Japandi interiors and with natural light as one of its key features”, says interior designer Katerina Tchevytchalova of K’Arte Design studio, referring to the renovation project of this home in Richmond, London. In the course of the project, the entire interior was remodelled and even the smallest details were designed, including the bathrooms, kitchen, bespoke joinery and architectural lighting.

The beauty of simplicity through the details

“I don’t have a favourite colour, but I do have a natural penchant for neutral and earthy tones”, says Tchevytchalova. Based on these preferences, she chose the exclusive Silestone Snowy Ibiza for this kitchen, a white shade with a subtle light grey veining that conveys a minimalist style through its details and matt finish.

Everything exudes the distinctive style of this London-based Russian interior designer who, in her words, identifies “with the Japandi style, which combines the simplicity and minimalism of the Far East and the hygge of the Scandinavian countries”. Thanks to the combination of the neutral and bright shade of Silestone Snowy Ibiza with the white of the kitchen furniture and the wood used for the floor and part of the peninsula, among other applications, the interior designer succeeds in transforming the space and creating a clean and relaxed atmosphere, perfect for becoming the heart of the home.

Materials that contribute to sustainability

According to Tchevytchalova, “designing for longevity and choosing high quality materials and furniture that will last for years will reduce the negative impact on the environment in the long-term”. In this sense, choosing Silestone for the project was her personal contribution to sustainability, as it is a hybrid surface of premium minerals and recycled materials manufactured with HybriQ technology, making it one of the most sustainable products on the market.

It is also highly resistant to stains and acids common in everyday kitchen use, as well as to scratches and knocks. In addition to its easy maintenance, Silestone stands for durability, making it an environmentally friendly product in the long-term that ensures many years of service.
